Terrible...Terrible...Terrible salon I have ever seen in my life. They didn't know how to clean and sanitize their equipments. This salon looks good on the outside and had a sanitary room with an autoclave, which matched the hospital grade (that was what they stated). However, now I am very doubtful if this machine is working or not because they tried to exaggerate what they have been doing. I was very shocked during my pedicure on the pedicure chair when i saw a technician accidentally drop something out of her hands and fell apart. Oops! I finally found out that she dropped a pipeless jet from one of their foot baths. I was curious so I asked them to show me what was inside. Oh my Lord! In front of me was some disgusting stuff (toe nails and cotton) which must have been there a long time because it was all black, yellow, and green. I almost threw up, but lucky for me, I managed to hold it in. I asked the girl named K who was doing my pedicure, "How do you guys clean your foot baths and pipeless jets? She looked me, gave me a silly smile, and then said, "Very often," without telling what the process was. Then, she turned around and chatted in Vietnamese with the other people who worked there. I didn't know what she said, but the other workers there turned around and gave me very mean looks. I asked K to stop doing my pedicure and left. However, she told me that I had to pay for her service. I felt very sick by the time that I looked at her face, so I paid and left. Again, this was the nastiest nail salon I have ever been to and the worst service I have ever had.

Unfortunately Mindy48098 either visited another salon or this is a fraudulent review. I tend to believe this is an “over the top” ridiculously fraudulent review by either a disgruntled former employee or by another nail salon attempting to do damage to their competition. I am the owner of Eco Nails and would like the opportunity to respond to this negative review. If you read this review closely, you will see English is not the primary language of the person who wrote it (using plurals when singulars should be used, does not use paragraphs, etc. etc.). We all know that over 95% of nail salons in this area are Vietnamese owned and operated. Additionally, the writer uses technical jargon that the average consumer would simply not know. These are the two main reasons to believe that this was written from someone in the industry. Lastly, when there is a very detailed review written (either positive or negative) it is usually false. The average person doesn’t have the time to write a narrative – the typical person would give a five or six sentence review regardless if it’s positive or negative. As the owner of Eco Nails I challenge Mindy48098 (if she is indeed a real person), or anyone, to call me directly on my personal phone to address any issues. My number is 248-829-5914. Eco Nails is an upscale American owned environmentally friendly spa. We are a full service salon offering manicures, pedicures, reflexology and waxing services at conventional pricing. All employees are required to speak fluent English and it is our company’s policy that all employees always converse in English when customers are present. Moreover, contrary to the review, we absolutely use a surgical grade sterilization system to sanitize our implements. Eco Nails is not a “conventional” mom and pop nail salon. We take tremendous pride in providing outstanding customer service with the expected standard of American luxury. Come visit Eco Nails – I am absolutely positive you will enjoy it and I will personally I guarantee it. You have my phone number. Thank you allowing me to dispel the myth of Mindy48098’s review.

Overall

I have been a frequent client of Eco Nails since opening night. My first few visits were very nice, relaxing, enjoyable. However, over this past year things have really changed. This place is turning into a regular asian nail place with a fancy name. I have had 4 visits including one this past Friday morning. I purchased a pedicure and polish change. The operator Val which I only knew her name from the name tag and receipt, seemed annoyed to be working that day. She was 1/4 into the service and remembered to ask what oil I would like in my cold water tub. When I mentioned that I would love to have the water a little warmer she was annoyed to have to now remove some water to add more warm water. Than I was served cold green tea yum.... when I mentioned it was cold she never asked if I would like it heated up....Val never asked how I would like my toe nails shaped and I ended up with my nails cut deep into the corners which will now most likely turn into ingrown toenails. Val wanted to paint my nails while I soaked my feet, Which I did not feel was very relaxing to me because this is why I came to this spa is to relax.. no foot massage, no leg massage, barley scraped the feet...I thought I was getting two services? As I watched the clock I recognized It took less than 29 minutes to give me a pedicure and nail polish change which she ended up doing in the pedicure chair no sense asking her to sit a a normal manicure table didn't want to upset her... and all for the price of $37.00. Every part of the pedicure seemed to be rushed. I will not only let everyone of my local friends, family business acquaintances and customers know of my recent experience. I will NEVER be back. Good luck to Katherine and her husband I hope you both take a step back and recognize as you did the 1st day you opened that its about customer service and repeat business not just the quick buck.

Dear Cheryl: We are so sorry about your experience. We really hate to lose a customer after nearly two and one half years of loyalty. We have a set standard with regard to the time it takes to get your service done. Unfortunately a bad technician had an adverse effect on what we try to accomplish which is simply providing our clients with a non- rushed outstanding customer experience. By no means have we directed any of our technicians to “rush” through services. We try to coach and develop our technicians and give second and even third chances providing our nail techs the opportunity to develop themselves to meet Eco Nail’s standards, but unfortunately this particular technician was not following our protocol and we have remedied this. I would like to thank you for bringing this to our attention. If this was happening to you, how many other clients might have gotten that sort of treatment? We are truly heart-broken over this situation and what may have occurred with other clients. But again, after several weeks of coaching and mentoring to no avail, I would like to re-emphasize this has been remedied. In any event, with all due respect, contrary to what you say in your review we are not after a short term profit. Also, we are not a conventional (“Asian owned” as you referred to us) nail salon – we are in this for the long term and we are all about providing outstanding customer service with an excellent customer experience with the expected standard of American Luxury. Over the last 18 months we have re-invested in the business with various innovations. 1) Pedicure smart bars were introduced offering clients warm lotions, scrubs, cuticle softeners and the like. 2) We have added essential oils and salts to the pedicure process. 3). Sanitary spa liners were introduced to insure that our customers have their services performed under the utmost sanitary conditions. 4). We have added sanitary head rest covers, again to insure our clients have their services performed under the utmost sanitary conditions. 5) We opened a second location in south Troy at Maple and Coolidge across from Whole Foods market in part to provide some relief for the busy location at Square Lake and Livernois. There are even more innovations coming in 2015! Nonetheless, thank you for letting us know about your unfortunate experience. I can assure you that your nails will not become ingrown by virtue of them being cut short. I apologize for the long response, but I felt it necessary to let you and other YP reviewers that we are truly passionate about the customer experience at Eco Nails. Cheryl, could do us one small favor? Could you please call the salon and ask for Katherine the manager? She would like to talk with you. Since your past experiences with us were positive, I trust you will have faith we will do whatever it takes to make it right for you and make you feel like we all want to feel when getting any type of service – a valued customer! We look forward to hearing from you.

I have been a customer of Eco Nails, Environmentally Friendly Spa on Livernois and Sq. Lk Rd. in Troy since it opened. I recommend it to all my friends. It is the cleanest nail salon I have ever visited. I also appreciate the organic, chemically free options. I highly recommend the reflexology massage followed by paraffin wax therapy treatment for hands and feet. If you want you can purchase and store your own implements. When you walk through Eco Nails' door there are no putrid acrylic fumes like most nail salons. You can actually breathe easily. I was there on Saturday and the place was packed and the phone was ringing. My husband and I both got mani-pedis. They take walk-ins but I always call ahead. Don't believe the haters. This place is worth more than 5 stars!
