Overall

I was in town on vacation and realized I had developed an abscess. They were able to see me the same day I called. Their service was friendly and professional. They took x-rays and gave me antibiotics until I could get back to my dentist at home.

Dental Examination
On each visit Dr. Herman performs and oral examination, which is a visual inspection of the mouth, head, and neck, performed to detect abnormalities. Radiographs allow for a more complete examination, helping the doctor to detect cavities, problems in existing dental restorations, gum and bone recession or other abnormal conditions within the mouth, head and neck area.

Teeth Cleaning
A dental cleaning, also known as an oral prophylaxis, is the removal of dental plaque and tartar (calculus) from the teeth. Specialized instruments are used to gently remove these deposits without harming the teeth. First, an ultrasonic device that emits vibrations and is cooled by water is used to loosen larger pieces of tartar. Next, hand tools are used to manually remove smaller deposits and smooth the tooth surfaces. Once all the tooth surfaces have been cleaned of tartar and plaque, the teeth are polished.

Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelain used to recreate the natural look of teeth. To place a veneer, a very small amount of the original tooth enamel must be removed. Afterwards, an adhesive layer is placed between the slightly prepped tooth and the veneer. The veneer is then hardened with a curing light.

I love this practice! My family has had dozens of cleanings, whitenings, a root canal, crowns, gum surgery, etc. here. My hygienist, Liz, discovered a large cyst in my jawbone that had been growing for about 35 years, but no one had ever noticed before. EVERYONE is always so friendly, professional and thorough - Dr. Herman, Heather, Liz, Sheila... and everyone takes the time to talk to you about your life and your teeth. I am moving 10 hours away,but will come back through town from time to time to get my dental care here.

Deep Cleaning
Staff Heather is the office manager who can help individuals with most of their dental and insurance related questions. She has been an asset at our office for over 20 years. Liz and Laura are the dental hygienists. They are extremely competent and knowledgeable in all facets of hygiene care. Under their care, each patient is thoroughly examined to identify or rule out dental and periodontal problems. They provide thorough dental cleanings, scaling and root planning with a gentle touch. Sheila is the dental and front office assistant. She will make sure patients have a comfortable and efficient dental experience.

Dentures
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth. There are two types of dentures, complete (full) and partial dentures.

Dental Implants
Complete (Full) Dentures are made after all the teeth in the upper and/or lower jaw have been removed and the gum tissue has healed. The denture is an acrylic pink base that resemble gum tissue with natural looking acrylic denture teeth It is custom made in a dental laboratory. The denture rests on the gums or can be anchored to dental implants.

Healthy teeth and gums greatly enhance our lives. A smile is the centerpiece of our appearance and a pleasant smile can be a source of self-confidence and happiness. We offer many solutions to “whiten” and “straighten” teeth from orthodontics to whitening procedures to porcelain veneers. Dental and gum disease adversely effects our overall health. Eliminating inflammation, harmful bacteria and infection from the mouth improves the overall health of our entire bodies. We strive to eliminate discomfort from dental treatment. Our use of topical anesthetics, nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and even anti-anxiety medications is employed to make the patient experience as comfortable as possible. We don’t even charge a fee for the nitrous oxide. Why? Because we think that patient comfort is a part of the whole treatment process. Not an extra!
Braces
Your dentist can make a custom mouth guard by taking an impression of your teeth and then creating a device fitted to your mouth for the highest level of both comfort and protection. A custom fitted mouthguard can be particularly important for athletes who wear braces. Be sure to bring your mouthguard to your dental appointments so your doctor can be sure it still fits you well.

Teeth Whitening
Most whitening systems use hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide as the active ingredient to whiten teeth. At-Home whitening requires the use of upper and lower clear trays that we fabricate and custom fit to your teeth. We also provide you with the peroxide gel of varying strengths (5-35%) that is placed in the trays. You will be given instructions on how to use the whitening systems. Patients should expect whiter and brighter teeth in about 2 weeks.
