Oral Cancer Screening
It may be fairly obvious that oral cancer is a very serious disease. But what might not be so obvious is that its signs can be extremely difficult to detect early on. As a result, many people don’t seek treatment until the disease has advanced and becomes challenging to treat. To keep oral cancer from sneaking up on you, Dr. Yu thoroughly screens for oral cancer during each of your routine visits. Her highly trained eyes can spot early signs of this disease, helping you get the care you need as soon as possible.

Teeth Cleaning
A two-step procedure called scaling and root planing is a special type of dental cleaning that targets gum disease at its source: the bacterial plaque and tartar deposits that have gathered around and below the gumline. First, Dr. Yu breaks apart these deposits (scaling) before smoothing out the roughened surfaces of the teeth’s roots (root planing). Afterward, your gums will more easily reattach to your teeth, and your risk of reinfection will decrease significantly.
Fluoride Treatment
How we treat very sensitive teeth: When dealing with sensitive teeth, we’ll need to survey the severity and determine the underlying cause. Whether it is caused by a cavity, aggressive brushing, excess teeth whitening, cracked tooth, gum disease, or a serious abscess. The types of treatments we may recommend as a result include tooth-colored fillings, fluoride treatment, periodontal therapy, root canal therapy, or tooth extraction.
Dental Sealants
Molars are often more susceptible to decay than front teeth. Not only does their location make them harder to clean (especially for younger patients), but their rough, grooved surfaces can all too easily trap food particles and bacteria. Dental sealants can seal off these areas from harmful substances. The sealant is a thin, clear composite resin that takes only minutes to paint on the chewing surfaces, but it provides up to a decade of protection.

Fillings
Unlike the metal amalgam fillings that have traditionally been employed to treat cavities, tooth-colored fillings allow Dr. Yu to replace decayed tooth structures with an incredibly lifelike material. They’re made from composite resin, which can be color-matched for results that blend right in with your natural grin. Because these fillings are metal-free and bond directly to your enamel, they’re less likely to cause temperature sensitivity than metal fillings.
Resin Composite
If you’d like to correct several dental imperfections but don’t have a lot of time, then cosmetic bonding might be the ideal solution for you. In about one hour, Dr. Yu can eliminate small stains, chips, or gaps using composite resin, which can be shaded to precisely mimic the natural color of your teeth. She’ll simply sculpt the resin over the flaws in question until they’re completely covered, harden the resin into place, and voila! You’ll have lifelike results that can last for five to ten years.
