I rented a house from Keys Rental Management for 2.5 years. When I moved out I paid to have the carpets and house professionally cleaned, I mowed the lawn and there was no damage to the house above normal wear and tear. 2 weeks after moving out I received a bill for over $1,000 from Keys for absurd "damages". Even the more legitimate charges were obscence ($60 for light bulb replacement for instance). I disputed the bill with their "tenant relation specialist James Letsinger" but they refused to be reasonable and give me my deposit back. Since the bill was garbage I refused to pay it so they turned me into a debt collector. The debt collector pulled some shady tricks himself trying to get me to pay this bill but I refused. The debt collector sued me in Small Claims Court (bringing Keys as their witness). Their case was dismissed because the charges were normal wear and tear and excessive, I was awarded majority of my deposit back plus$100. The Oregonian wrote a story on the matter
