Rock Creek 185 Apartments

Nice location, management is great and responsive, and maintenance is always on point (shout out to Polo!).

The apartment complex is nicknamed Motel 185 because of the constant turn over of residents. The constant turn over is because of the unprofessional, harassing, confrontational and degrading treatment of the residents by the apartment management staff that will nickel and dime you with hidden fees as often as they can.



The apartment management staff attitude towards the residents is that they are lucky to be renting from them. The management staff is annoyed if you request a service for them. They will also blame you for their clerical errors. They do not realize that the tenants are paying them for a service.



Management are inconsistent and obituary in applying apartment rules to residents so expect notes on your front door constantly. They will state you are in violation of an apartment rule that doesn't exist. Their perspective is that it is an implied rule, even if it doesn't exist in writing. Don't even bother to talk to the apartment management team about violations unless you want to get into a confrontation with them and leave angry.



The apartments are beaten and not maintained. There is new inexpensive paint and carpet on the buildings but that doesn't constitution well maintained. Gym equipment have not been updated in over 5 years.



Constant turn over in the residents. Residents stay on average until their contract is over. Also there is additional rent charge going month to month.



If you need a transition place before moving into another apartment then I would consider this place, if not I'd go someplace else.

The Apartments are pretty nice, the property is nice but when you leave they will take it all. My boyfriend and I lived there for 9 months. We paid our rent on time or early every month. We enjoyed living there, and all the managers were really nice, but when we got a great offer to live in my dad's rental house to save us money while I was in school we gave our notice and they became hostile. We left the apartment spotless, and the only problems were a few small places on the carpet that my cat had scratched ( could easily be patched) and the paint that was peeling off the soap dish in the tub because the people who refurbish the apartments between renters are not thorough or careful and dripped paint down the walls and used wall paint to paint over the water proof soap dish. Also there was a spot that the manager claimed was a burn but was really a small piece of asphalt (removable) that was tracked in when they re-did the whole parking lot. Needless to say the decided to replace the carpet in leiu of patching it, which cost our 1,000 total deposit (including pet fees) plus another $300. I am convinced that they ended up patching it since they are not at all interested in the highest quality and the carpet was spotless other than the afore mentioned damage. Also they became extremely hostile when we said that their decision was unreasonable especially since part of the "damage" was not even real ( cigarette burn that was really asphalt). I recommend avoiding the hassle of living here altogether.
