Everyone knows cats are experts at napping but do you know they’re also hard workers? They’re natural rodent deterrents and they love their jobs! If you have a ranch, barn, stables, warehouse, factory, greenhouse, nursery, winery, distillery, junkyard, storage facility, repair shop, retail store and more and you have a problem with rodents, our Working Cat program might be the solution. Cats in the program are spayed/neutered and have at least rabies and distemper vaccinations. These cats are those who aren’t socialized enough or have other limitations to be placed up for adoption in a home environment. This non-traditional approach allows these cats to receive shelter, access to food and water and the care they need while offering the service of expert rodent control to their kindhearted adopters. There is no adoption fee for our working cats but a donation would be greatly appreciated. To learn more about our Working Cat Program please call HSW at 928-684-8801.
Nutritional Counseling
Care for pets in your home! Volunteers provide varying levels of care for homeless dogs or cats, ranging from a warm quiet place to promote weight gain, to socializing with humans, noises, and new surroundings. Our most intensive level of care requires bottle feeding or medical administration around the clock. Volunteers participate in an orientation, interview, and training process for certification. Once trained, the volunteers name is added to a list to be called to care for baby animals 2-8 weeks of age, as the need arises. (Volunteers are not ‘on-call’ indefinitely. They are called at the time of need to see if they are available for about 2-8 weeks.) The pet(s) are brought back to the shelter after foster goals are met.
Thanks to Arizona Pet License Plates for awarding the Humane Society of Wickenburg grant funds to help spay and neuter dogs and cats in 2021! Grant funds are used to offset the cost of spaying and neutering public owned pets and feral cats in the community and surrounding rural areas!
$50 for senior pets over 8 years old. Your donation will help cover the costs of preparing these pets for adoption and help the Humane Society of Wickenburg continue to help animals in need in the community.
