I went to Dr. Whelihan since I was a teenager. When I was young, Dr. Whelihan encouraged me to use prescription diet medication. She had me return to her every month to "weigh in" and pick up a new perscription. She charged me $80 per monthly visit. I asked her about side effects of the medication and she told me that there are risks but, that there are much greater risks in being obese. I was NEVER even close to being obese. I consulted my general doctor and was told the these medications are extemely dangerous. He said that he has had many patients of Dr. Whelihan's reporting that she is prescribing the same medication to them. He stated that it seemed as though she was running a weight loss clinic rather than a GYO practice.

Over time, I had many othe rissues with Dr. Whelihan. The first is a very common complaint of doctor's offices in general. The wait was WAY too long. Sitting in the waiting room for an hour past my appointment time was common.

Another issue I had is that I never felt as though Dr. Whelihan was listening to me. She would come into the room, crack a feww joke, examine me and leave. When I tried to discuss issues, concerns, or questions with her, she tended to brush me off. After years of complaining about specific issues I was having and bering told that it was "no big deal," I told her that if she did not run tests, I would find another doctor. As it turned out, I was born with a birth defect that had been causing the issues that I had complained to her about for the past 10 years!

That was when I changed doctors. After reflection back on the diet pills in my youth as well as her disregard for my concerns, it was time to find a new doctor.

Dr. Whelihan is the best GYN I have ever had. She listens to me and she is thorough and knowledgeable. After having my concerns brushed off by three male GYNs I went to Dr. W. She took my concerns seriously, diagnosed me accurately, and then performed surgery to fix the problems. My recovery was quick and practically painless. Best of all, she gave me back my quality of life!

I love Dr. Whelihan she is the BEST!!!!

I took my 76 year-old mother for a well woman check-up that she had been waiting for for 6 weeks. It was her first appointment with this doctor. We arrived 30 minutes early to fill out paperwork. She had received a confirmation call the day before which changed the appointment location from State Rd. 7 & Forest Hill Blvd. to Davis Rd. & Forest Hill Blvd. She was told that the office in Wellington was no longer open. This was quite an inconvenience, as my mother lives in the Western Communities. Included with the regular medical paperwork was a form stating that for the "convenience" of the patient, a credit card was required at the beginning of each visit. This paper required a signature authorizing the medical practice to charge the credit card for any balance not paid. This form was to be kept on file in their office. The form compared this to a credit card being held for a hotel reservation, so if there was any balance due it would automatically be charged and no check would have to be written by the patient. My mother refused to give anyone carte blanche to her credit cards and was told that that the doctor would not see her unless she signed the form, as that was the policy. Her response was to walk out of the office. Hooray for Mom! Thumbs down for this medical practice for such a shameful & lazy manipulative financial procedure and shame on the louses that make them feel that it is necessary to have to do this type of thing to cover their financial losses. :(
