Macular Degeneration
Macular degeneration, also called age-related macular degeneration (or AMD), is an eye disease that affects the macula of the eye. The macula is located in the central portion of the retina, and this disease causes it to deteriorate (often as a result of the aging process) or become damaged. There are two types of macular degeneration: dry and wet. Dry macular degeneration is the more common and less serious of the two, and leads to a gradual loss of vision, while wet macular degeneration is more aggressive and leads to more severe vision loss.
Laser Eye Surgery
LASIK surgery (which stands for laser assisted in situ Keratomileusis) is a permanent vision correction procedure performed as an alternative to glasses or contacts. The goal of LASIK is to correct vision by reshaping the cornea. A LASIK procedure takes about 10 minutes per eye. However, the excimer laser corrects a patientâ€™s vision in a few seconds. LASIK provides rapid healing and recovery time. Patients typically start enjoying their amazing new vision within a few hours from the procedure.

A cataract occurs when protein clouds the eyeâ€™s natural lens. When these proteins cover the lens, it becomes harder and harder to see clearly.

Diabetic Retinopathy
Diabetic Retinopathy is a major cause of new blindness in adults. If discovered in time, most cases of vision loss caused by diabetic retinopathy can be prevented. Any adult with diabetes should have their vision checked at least once a year. People with diabetes who are vigilant about having their vision checked regularly can often avoid or prevent vision loss from diabetes.

Ultrasound
In traditional cataract surgery, once the surgeon creates the small incision in your cornea, they will use a probe to create sound waves, known as ultrasound, to break up the cloudy lens. Your surgeon then suctions out the broken pieces of the lens and replaces them with the new intraocular lens. During this procedure, the incision is closed with a liquid seal, and stitches are usually not needed.
