Discovery Corner Academy

I wish there were more than 5 stars I could award!!! Discovery Corner Academy is not just a "child care" facility, they are a family of wonderful gals that take care of your child's needs from start to finish. Their staff have the warmest personalities and are engaged with my children from the moment they walk in the door. Everyone has a calm, loving nature to them and it's a breath of fresh air to see a group of people who love what they do so much! I have honestly never seen my kids happier than in the care of this staff!

To boot, they have an excellent curriculum model they follow that truly engages students with the learning process. My sons are learning and retaining more than they ever have before, and it's all done through playful models that don't even feel like "work". Teachers rotate their classes through different rooms throughout the day to keep the environment interesting and keep the kids engaged with what they're doing. It's such a smart practice and my kids LOVE going to each of the different rooms every day!

Honestly, I have toured and had my kids enrolled in a number of other local facilities, but none of them compare to the care and guidance we have received at Discovery Corner Academy!! I am proud to be a part of the DCA family and encourage anyone and everyone to tour their amazing facility!

My son has been going to Discovery for the past 3 months and we love it! Ms. Loretta and her staff are very warm and caring. My son was enrolled at a different program for a few months and we were so disappointed that the teachers were just babysitters. At Discovery, the teachers take personal interest in the growth and development of your child. Thanks to Ms. Connie my son has learnt to play chess. They have a good mix of academics, play and learning activities. My son was so excited about all the fun summer events. Their schedule is flexible and they are open all year round which is great for working parents. I highly recommend Discovery to anyone looking for childcare. We know families that went here more than 10 years ago and have nothing but good things to say about their experiences. Thank you Ladies for all the love, warmth and affection.

We are thrilled to have found DCA for our daughter two years ago. She started in the preschool program and has recently completed the kindergarten program. Leaving the school is bittersweet. As a lower elementary teacher myself I know that this is a special place. All of the teachers, as well as the director, knew and truly cared about my child. The education she received was stellar. The class sizes are small which enables the teachers to get to know each child individually. Miss Richelle does guided reading in the kindergarten program. That is an important component you won't find in many area preschools. By January Caroline was reading independently! She's a very confident and enthusiastic learner because of the support she received at DCA. We're all sad to be leaving (especially Caroline), but we'll definitely be back to visit.

We had our son in another daycare and were not happy about the educational piece of that program. We heard of Discovery through word of mouth, and decided to check it out. Meeting with Loretta and seeing the interactions of the teachers and children, there was not a second thought to moving Dylan to Discovery. Loretta is a burst of energy, and the personal attention to every child is truly amazing. Dylan stayed for Kindergarten at Discovery and it paid off, he was more than well prepared when entering the public schools from both academics and emotional/social development. Mrs. Rochelle keeps in close contact with parents to ensure your child is on the right path and you can feel that personal connection with the children, and the effort to help the children to become ready for the next stage of education. We take Dylan back to Discovery when he has half days and breaks from 1st grade, as well as during the summer time.



When we had our second child, we couldn’t wait to move him to Discovery when he met the age requirement. It was amazing to see the difference with Nolan’s personality in the first weeks and months at Discovery. He just blossomed. Nolan started saying more words, interacting with his brother in a more positive manner, singing songs, reciting colors, numbers and the alphabet. Discovery is truly a mother’s dream. I never once had apprehension leaving my children at Discovery. I would trust all of the teachers/caregivers to come into my home and babysit. My son Nolan is attached to Loretta “Ra Ra” as he calls her, and the loving bond between Nolan and Ms. Jasmine is genuine and great to see



In short, I would strongly recommend Discovery Corner to any family, you will not be disappointed!

The school age summer program at DCA is wonderful for my two sons. They love going each day to see old and new friends. DCA provides a great balance between indoor and outdoor activities. My sons favorite activities are capture the flag and bike and ice cream day. I would highly recommend DCA. The staff is caring and conscientious, and they provide age appropriate activities for all.

I feel so fortunate to have my son enrolled in the Kindergarten class at DCA. My son started in their preschool program and we have been very pleased with our experience. DCA is housed in a church but it has adequate play space and classroom space. The teachers and director are extremely caring and genuinely love kids. DCA has been very flexible with my son’s schedule. They use a lot of positive reinforcement and are very patient. DCA fosters a great learning environment and we especially love the science experiments they do. The Kindergarten class size is really small and the teacher is able to do one on one reading instruction with the kids every week. My son (4.5 years old) is able to read at a third grade reading level and is starting to add two digit numbers. I have worked with him since he was little but DCA really has facilitated a love of learning, especially writing, puzzles, and building. Also, our son’s life skills and social skills have really improved since he started attending (it helps that the other children who attend DCA are generally very nice, the hostess for my son's birthday party even told us this). Most notably, the same exact teachers have been at DCA since my son started attending in 2013. This allows all the teachers to know my son really well, his personality and sensitivities. I think that is really special.

We have 2 twin boys at DCA. They started this year in the Kindergarten class. They were both reading on the second week of school. The staff is very nuturing. DCA makes learning fun. We recommend DCA to all our friends.

My family couldn't be more pleased with this preschool. My 2.5 year old daughter loves her school and her classmates. The director Loretta is not only a saint but an obvious "toddler whisperer". They have a full preschool curriculum, but also offer the convenience of long hours (6:45am-6pm). They are rarely ever closed, only for a few holidays and never on snow days. We recommend DCA to everyone with preschool age children in the area.

Great owners, great director. We have had two children at discovery corner. We had to make a quick choice to change day cares when my oldest was very young, with a recommendation from a co worker we checked out Discovery corner. We our on our second child at Discovery corner and both will spend some time there in the summer.



Our family could never thank everyone at Discovery Corner enough for everything they have done in the past, and continue to do on a daily basis.

My 2 children attended a family owned daycare starting at 3 months old. When my oldest child was entering his Pre-K year we decided we needed to find something with a more academic setting to prepare him for Kindergarten. We loved the family feel of our prior daycare so I was nervous about moving. We visited many, many preschools. Miss Loretta was the only visit that did not rush us through our first meeting. She spoke with us for 2 hours and answered every question. She introduced us to every teacher, which no other preschool did. When I requested parent recommendations within 2 days I had phone calls and emails from 6 parents of children that attended. My oldest, now in Kindergarten, was well prepared both socially and academically for the transition. He loved his Pre-K teacher and comes back often to visit his friends. My 3 year old LOVES her school, her teachers and her friends. She never is upset at drop off and when she is off for an extended period, lets us know she is ready to go back to school again! I have daily communication with Miss Loretta and the teachers were even kind enough to come watch my daughter play soccer this fall! I highly recommend DCA and look forward to continuing my experience with them with my third child!

After a bad experience at a "chain daycare", it was a huge relief to find DCA. After the first tour of the center, I immediately felt at home. The director and the rest of the staff are extremely caring and loving. The atmosphere is educationally and creatively rich and the friendships my daughter has already made are incredible.



Another great aspect of DCA is that it's extremely diverse. I love that my child is socializing with children of different backgrounds every day. She knows about different countries and languages because her friends tell her about it.



I truly can't say enough good things about DCA. They are a part of our family and we are thankful to have found them.

I've had both of my kids at Discovery Corner for 2.5 years. The staff at Discovery Corner is absolutely amazing. They are kind, thoughtful and sweet, but also firm with boundaries and structure for the kids. The director, Miss Loretta, is a dynamic and effective leader.



In addition to having a rigorous curriculum, Discovery Corner also offers convenient hours and flexible scheduling. The school is a perfect place anytime schools are cancelled for snow days or holidays, and older kids can come back for the day if schools are closed.



Discovery Corner is very competitively priced, and offer small class sizes and individual attention. This combination of cost effectiveness and quality of care makes Discovery Corner the best solution for our family.



Discovery Corner is big enough to have all the resources you would want for your child's education, but small enough to be flexible. The staff knows each parent and each kid by name, and they have always treated my children like one of their own.



I really can't say enough good things about Discovery Corner. After several alarming issues with in-home daycare providers, and needed special accommodations for my kids, I considered quitting my job to stay home. Miss Loretta provided me with the opportunity to feel great about leaving my kids.



I will be forever grateful to Discovery Corner for providing a safe learning environment for my kids, and continuous positive support for me!

Discovery Corner Academy (DCA) is phenomenal! My daughter has attended since she was 2. I recommend DCA to anyone who inquires and can speak endlessly about the positive experiences we have had there. When I was going back to work, we interviewed numerous schools, day cares, etc. trying to find that perfect fit and once we walked in, I just knew that "This was it!" We were immediately greeted by the Director, Loretta, who not only introduced herself to me but also to my daughter. All of the other organizations spoke to me and did not directly engage her in coversation but Loretta got down at eye level and spoke to my daughter. This is just one of many positive experiences..and that was on the inital meet! On a daily basis, they do circle time, calendar, counting, letters, worksheets, art, music, computer, Spanish and of course gym, just to name a few. I always get updates on how my daughter did that day and Loretta always makes herself available to talk with me. We love it so much she will continue onto the kindergarten program. Overall, I have seen my daughter grow in intelligence, social skills, and confidence and would recommend DCA and its teachers and Director to anyone who asks.

My daughter has attended DCA since she was 2 years old, and now, at the age of 7, she continues to attend the summer camp program each year. I cannot speak highly enough of our experience with DCA. It is not only a warm, caring and personalized environment, but also an educational, exciting and a positive environment to develop talented and caring children. Loretta, the Director, and all of her staff are fantastic with the children, and my daughter always looks forward to seeing everyone again in the summer. I also highly recommend the kindergarten program at DCA. My daughter learned a tremendous amount during that year, was a fluent reader, and was extremely well prepared to enter elementary school in relation to her peers.

My twins attended DCA for part-time preschool and now summer camp. They actually REQUESTED that I send them back for the summer. I love the teachers and the Director. The staff is always cheery, organized, fun, and loving. The kids are never bored because there are so many areas in which to play and learn. I love that you can make your own schedule and pay by the week.

We are so fortunate we discovered DCA. Our search was finally over when we found a warm, nurturing, and educational environment where children could learn and grow. Loretta, the director of the school, is an exceptional leader as well as the rest of the staff. My daughter is currently 5 years old and has been at DCA since the age of 3. My son is 3 years old and has been attending the pre-school program since 2 years of age. As a working mother, it meant so much to me to know that my children are in such wonderful hands during the day. I highly recommend DCA to all parents who are looking for an incredible program filled with art, music, creative play, spanish, computers and more.
