While the level of care at Paw...

While the level of care at Paws and Claws seems satisfactory, I'm not incredibly happy with my experiences nor with their pricing.

The establishment is anchored at the south end of the Skyland Pub and seems to have been added as an afterthought since it's incredibly drafty and echoey inside. The power of the HVAC system combined with the rickety-sounding interior construction creates small vacuums that, when opening or closing any door inside the business will rattle other doors, especially the ones for the exam rooms which has the effect of frightening my poor animal worse than they need to be, thrust in such a scary situation. It seems this space would be better suited to a different kind of business where this type of noise would be more tolerated and tuned out.

I am unhappy with how much I am charged for services. Most of that is probably overhead for being in such a prominent complex, at the corner of S Troutdale Road and SE Stark Street. I was quoted an unholy amount for a possible procedure that I was informed my animal sorely needed, and urged to purchase a product to administer to them in the meantime which was priced astronomically higher (nearly double!) than what I found offered from Amazon affiliates. I wonder if this isn't the hot, unnecessary procedure du jour that they're pushing to make rent this month.

The doctors and receptionists seem harried, rushed, and come off a bit cold. I've felt talked down to by the doctors unfortunately and was brushed off trying to get information on altering my living spaces for the safety of my animal. I was disappointed by this attitude. I didn't get any sort of suggestions to other sources I could check with to find what I needed to know; I felt like they just wanted me off the phone after being notified of test results. Maybe they were busy, and sure, I understand, but I want my money's worth and if it means spending 10-20 minutes on the phone with me, so be it because that's your job!

On the plus side, the vet techs generally have seemed very personable and warm and their aftercare explanations were adequately paced and thorough. They waiting area features a table offering free coffee, many mostly animal-related reading materials, and some toys in the corner for children. Sometimes their resident cat will acknowledge you.

For now, I'm looking for a new place that is quieter, more reasonably priced, less rushed, and willing to spend more time with us.

I just love the staff at paws and claws. I have been going there for years. They always make me and my doggies feel welcome and at home. This is the first veterinary clinic that my pets actually enjoy going to visit. I would not go anywhere else!

The staff at Paws & Claws are amazing. I really appreciated their help when our beloved dog Zeus passed away this year. Not only did they go out of their way to walk us through the process, they totally empathized with us in our time of grief. They are a stellar group of competent animal lovers.
