Lois Etienne, an RN, was the first WA State Home Instead franchise owner and started in 1996. Established in 1994, Home Instead Senior Care is one of the largest organizations that provides home care and companionship services for senior citizens in the world. The agency maintains a network of more than 900 franchise offices throughout the United States and is in 17 other countries. It serves clients in assisted living facilities and nursing homes. The agency provides assistance with meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication management and shopping. Home Instead Senior Care employs a staff of over 50,000 people. The agency also offers memory support programs for individuals with Alzheimer s disease. It provides respite care and laundry assistance services. The agency offers opportunities to participate in several activities, such as outings, parties, card games, and arts and crafts. The agency operates the Home Instead Senior Care Foundation, which provides financial assistance to nonprofit organizations. Home Instead Senior Care publishes a quarterly e-newsletter, Caring Connections.
