I would give them no stars if that was an option. My mother has lived at Heather Ridge apartments in Westland, a Dart-managed complex, for 18 years and has been a model tenant. Despite always paying her rent on time for NEARLY TWO DECADES, Dart has just sent her an eviction notice. The manager tried to claim it was not an eviction, just that they weren't renewing her lease, yet funnily enough, the paperwork she's received from them sure does say eviction. Sorry Dart management, semantics don't make any difference except maybe to make you feel better. My mother will be 80 this year, is handicapped, and has a heart condition, yet Dart is putting her out on the street and in the middle of winter to boot. Being the cowards they are, they refuse to tell her why they are evicting her; they just hide behind the "It's perfectly legal, we don't have to give her a reason" excuse. Since it makes no good business sense especially in today's economy to kick out a model tenant who has paid rent on time for 18 years, it points to age discrimination, and they will be investigated regarding this. There is also another senior at Heather Ridge, who even used to work in the office there, who got an eviction notice around the same time as my mother. If they lose money on giving tenants senior discounts (which is hardly significant), all they have to do is say they're not giving those discounts anymore. But they won't give my mother that option, and they won't even allow her to rent from month to month until she finds a suitable place to move to. Even after being informed of my mother's age, handicap, and heart condition, they still refuse to budge, saying that they're not changing their minds and she'll just have to get used to it. So, be fooled by how "nice" the management/office staff may be at your own risk. "Nice" people don't treat handicapped senior citizens this way.
