Primary Care
Like the PPO, the HMO requires you to make a co-payment to an in network physician. However, an HMO will not pay for services you receive outside the network. Your primary care physician acts as the gatekeeper to your health care. In order to obtain specialty care, you must attain a referral from your PCP.
Ear Infections
A: Children with certain health problems may need to avoid some vaccines or get them later. In most cases, children with cancer, those taking oral or injected steroids for lung or kidney conditions, or those who have problems with their immune systems should not get vaccines that are made with live viruses. To protect these children it is very important for others to be vaccinated. For children with a recent history of seizures, the pertussis part of the DTaP vaccine may need to be delayed. However, a child with a minor illness such as low-grade fever (<100.4 °F), an ear infection, cough, a runny nose, or mild diarrhea can safely be immunized.
Emergency Care
If you believe you have a life threatening emergency, dial 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. When an urgent need arises after our scheduled office hours, you can reach our practitioner on-call through our answering service at 248-691-8637. Please have a pharmacy number available when needed. If we feel that your child needs to be evaluated, we prefer to have them evaluated at William Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak or Troy Locations. Both provide Pediatric After Hours Clinics and Pediatric Emergency Department care.
Electrocardiogram
Studies done outside our office or through a specialist may not be resulted to us timely. We may be unaware of when you have a test done (such as EKG, hearing evaluation, etc.). Please call in 1-2 days of test completion for results.
