General Info
About Crescent Academy Crescent Academy International (CAI) is a private, college preparatory Islamic school. The school currently enrolls over 400 students from age 18 months (Montessori Daycare) to Grade 8. Founded on the vision of a handful of far-sighted Muslim professionals devoted to the education of Muslim children, plans began in 1989 to establish Crescent Academy. The goal of this organization is to help meet the educational and spiritual needs of Muslim children growing up in America. After several years of planning and development, the school opened its doors in September, 1991 and shortly thereafter moved into its new $2.4 million school facility. The school is located on an attractive ten-acre site in a quiet suburban setting conducive to quality education. Over the years, Crescent Academy has been blessed with steady growth and progress. Both locally and nationally, Crescent Academy International has developed a reputation as one of the premiere Islamic schools in North America. Currently, the school completed a $9 million expansion project that provides an additional 68, 000 sq. ft. of facilities to our students and staff. With God's Favor and Bounty in our hard work, we believe that we can look forward to many years of continued development and success, insha'Allah.

Overall

This school is nothing like I expected. let's start with the communication the school is so unorganized, before school started I received all the necessary paperwork for my child to attend school. I went out purchased uniform, the long extensive school supply list, only to get a call for them to say your son will be on our waiting list.(excuse me) now the good part this was on Thursday August 28, 2014. Receptionist called and I asked to speak to Mrs.Ford and she decides to call me back to say o it was a mistake I will call you back shortly to let you know who your child teacher is. Well the call never came and come the first day of school I go to introduce myself to my sons teacher o yeah only to be looked at as though I was a idiot for introducing myself to my child teacher or even being concerned about my child education. Time goes on the teacher quits two weeks into school starting telling children the kids are two bad "I Quit" when did that become professional even if you are unhappy with the school that's no way to talk to kids. Yet school continues and progress reports time comes around, my son progress report was horrible compared to last year school grades. I go to parent teacher conferences to become even more furious with this school . The social studies teacher send home a ten page packet to 4th graders on a Monday and test them on Friday to tell parents kids the kids grades were based off the packet that went home ( confused) she then goes on to say a lot of kids in that class didn't do well because they didn't get a long time to study like the other classes. What sense does that make. The to the next teacher the horrible Spanish teacher that gave most kids a D yet she told me my son was missing a bunch of assignments but couldn't tell me what he was missing then before the end do the conversation she said I only gave them the paper to give them a grade but yet we only received one assignment that was to write the number 11-100 three times each and I asked is this something you are working on in the class then she says no...well what do you expected them to really be take from the lesson how to write. This school is horrible and even after I called and told them my son wasn't returning and they decide to call my son father number and tell them if he isn't returning someone needs to let the know. Dude the lack of communication is terrible o not to mention my sons fourth grade class didn't have guided reading books but yet he got a D I was told by the teacher (long term sub) she wasn't sure how they came up with the grade. This school left a bad taste and I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone. Bus service is always late, changed the schedule but didn't think it was important to inform parents yet they have your child calling if you are one minute late yet it is okay to have parents waiting 1hr after the bus is scheduled this school is sad.
