An estimated 26 million Americans suffer from migraines - Results of a study published in the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology reported that "after three months, patients taking vitamin B2 reported 37 percent fewer migraines than other comparable patients not taking the vitamin. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) has been used worldwide for over 40 years to relieve pain, remove scars, heal wounds, regenerate nerves and solve addictions. On January 17th, 2002, the first U.S. Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) company, Erchonia, the laser youÂ’re being treated with, received FDA clearance through clinical trial. The study took 100 patients complaining of Neck and Shoulder pain. Half were treated with a useless red light (placebo group), similar to that on a computer mouse or grocery check-out, and the other half received LLLT. The treatment group beat the placebo group by 66%! ThatÂ’s 66% faster relief and more complete relief, a remarkable margin. Such a study is known as Â“double blindÂ” research, and is the gold standard for measuring the validity of a therapy. Similar studies have been passed by the FDA for Carpal Tunnel, Wounds and Scar Tissue. There are over 2000 published studies on LLLT reporting zero negative side effects.

How to decide whether active-release techniques will work for you Before seeking an ART practitioner to treat an injury or chronic problem, you should first see a physician. ART can't fix broken bones, torn ligaments, thyroid disease, or ruptured spinal disks. You need to rule out such problems. Second, if your insurance requires it, get a referral or prescription for either chiropractic care or physical therapy. (ART falls under the category of myo-fascial release, which is covered under many health plans.)

Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a deep heat that does not redden the tissue like hot backs. The ultrasound waves create a deep heat within the tissue by using high frequency sound waves that vibrate rapidly. These sound waves alleviate muscle spasm and relax the muscles.

1. Intercondylar notch size. This is the groove in the femur through which the ACL travels. The size and shape of the notch tends to be smaller in women. This narrowness may predispose women to higher rates of ACL injury. Not only is this groove smaller in women, but the actual size of the ACL itself (MRI cross section of the ACL in a man averaged almost 14 millimeters larger than in females at the width of the space through which the ACL travels) is smaller in women (1).

Many of you have probably heard the term "high ankle sprain." This injury is becoming more and more prevalent in professional sports (football, basketball, soccer). The ligaments and tissues between the tibia and fibula (interosseous membrane) are damaged in this type of sprain. This is a much more serious injury than the above two sprains. Frequently, surgery must be done to repair the injury as in Terrell Owen's case. He had 3 injuries: he sprained the interosseous membrane, he sprained the ligaments on the inside of the ankle and he fractured his fibula.

Achilles Tendonitis
Injuries of the Achilles tendon range from acute and chronic tendonitis (or tendinosis - see Achilles Tendon Pathology ) - to partial and complete ruptures. In acute and sub-acute (2-6 weeks duration) Achilles tendonitis, the tendon is not torn but is inflamed. The tendon area may be swollen, red and painful to the touch. Often, there is pain when the athlete first rises in the morning but dissipates once the tendon is warmed-up during the day. If the tendon continues to be used, microtears occur which heal with scar tissue which is not as elastic nor is as strong as the original tissue. As the injury becomes chronic, adhesions begin to develop between the tendon sheath and the tendon which can permanently change the anatomy of the area. The athlete may feel a crackling or grinding sensation while rubbing the tendon or while lightly pinching the tendon when the foot is moved up and down.
