Dental Examination
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry has found that your child should visit the dentist within six months after the presence of the first tooth or by his or her first birthday. Early oral examination aids in the detection of the initial stages of tooth decay. Early detection is also essential to maintaining good oral health.
X-rays
Dental x-rays are among the lowest dose of radiation producing procedures in medical imaging. It would take roughly 1,200 panoramic x-rays of your mouth to equal one CT Scan. Did you know that when you fly in an airplane you are exposed to a small amount of radiation? A panoramic x-ray of your mouth is only half of the radiation you’re exposed to on a 7-hour plane ride. The amount of radiation is even lower for a routine x-ray exam. A routine procedure including 4 intraoral images is about the same dose of radiation from a 1-2 hour plane ride. A dental x-ray provides less than the amount of radiation you are exposed to in the average day from natural radiation.
Oral Cancer Screening
We recommend having an oral cancer screening at least once each year. Regular screenings can help ensure early detection of any potential cancers.

Fluoride Treatment

Deep Cleaning
The Cavitron is a handheld device used in periodontal deep cleaning. While scaling can be completed by hand, the Cavitron uses ultrasonic technology to remove calculus from teeth and gums quickly, gently and effectively.

Dentures
Dentures are a removable replacement for one or more missing teeth. They are used to restore both function and aesthetics. Dentures are custom-fabricated to fit your mouth and match the appearance of your natural teeth. The fit of your dentures may be adjusted as needed to ensure comfort and proper function.
Overdentures
A single prosthesis (crown) is used to replace one missing tooth – each prosthetic tooth attaches to its own implant. A partial prosthesis (fixed bridge) can replace two or more teeth and may require only two or three implants. A complete dental prosthesis (fixed bridge) replaces all of the teeth in your upper or lower jaw. The number of implants varies depending upon which type of complete prosthesis (removable or fixed) is recommended or desired. A removable prosthesis (overdenture) attaches to a bar or ball and socket attachment, whereas a fixed one is permanent and removable only by the dentist.

Tooth Extractions
Using the most recent advances in dental implant technology, the doctors of MGM Dental are able to place single stage implants. These implants do not require a second procedure to uncover them but do require a minimum of six weeks of healing time before placing artificial teeth on them. There are even situations where the implants can be placed at the same time as a tooth extraction further minimizing the number of surgical procedures. Advances in dental implant technology have made it possible in select cases, to extract teeth, and place implants with crowns at one visit. This process, called “immediate loading” greatly simplifies the surgical process.
Bone Grafting
Our doctors perform in-office implant surgery in a hospital-style operating suite, thus optimizing the level of sterility. Even extensive reconstruction including bone grafting from the jaw, hip or tibia can be accomplished in our operating suite on an out-patient basis. Inpatient hospital implant surgery is for patients who have special medical or anesthetic needs.
