Alter's Moving

I cannot even give them one star – but this would not post without me touching the stars… Alters moving quoted my mother $665 to move her from Detroit area to Jackson, MI area. She is a senior citizen. When they arrived in Jackson, they locked their truck and locked themselves into thier cab and refused to move her things into her apt until she paid $1100 - nearly double the quoted price! Her friends & family had to help the movers unload her things because they moved slowly to milk the hourly rate. They drove 55mph the whole way, took a 30 min lunch she was required to pay for "or they would work slowly and she would have to pay for it anyway". When I left for 10 mins, they were disrespectful to my mom and stopped working until I returned. He asked that I not report this on social media stating a 'misunderstanding'. John Alter will hold you stuff hostage and rob you! BEWARE!!

In the need of an emergency move I called this company in need of their services. I contacted them Friday night in need of services Sunday morning. The owner himself sounded like a very nice and reputable guy who promised me 3 men at 9am Sunday morning. All packed up and ready to go he called me at 8:50 am Sunday morning and told me he double booked and was not coming! Instead of being apologetic this once friendly guy was extremely rude and insensitive to my situation that he caused. After calling other moving companies I was informed several times that this company does this frequently. Spare yourself and hire a reputable company check www.bbb.org.
