Samantha has been in the veterinary field since 2005, with an interest in both Marine Biology & Neurology. She worked at a privately-owned practice in Mesa starting out as a kennel attendant and advanced her career to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. She graduated from Pima Medical Institute in March 2017, and had taken her national and state boards shortly after. Samantha joined ANIC neurology in January 2018 and is currently working toward her specialty certification within the field. In her spare time she works with her three fur-babies: Demi, Bodhi and Cerce, on some pretty impressive obedience training!

About 2:30 AM a couple of weeks ago, Eddie (our little Parson Russell Terrier) was attacked in our back yard by a coyote. We were shocked and scared to death and at a total loss of where to turn, so we ‘Googled’ vets near us and luckily came across Animal Medical & Surgical Center. Shortly after 3:00 in the morning, the staff welcomed us with open arms as they immediately went to work on Eddie, who had suffered nearly a dozen puncture wounds from the attack. He was kept over night for observation, and it was determined that he required surgery to make sure his little lungs were not punctured. I am so happy to report that here we are, only 2 weeks or so later, and Eddie is home & feeling better every day. We are absolutely thrilled with the quality of the care and the dignity and respect shown to us and our little family member. Dr.‘s Jha, Sontineni, and Corona provided the finest care we’ve ever experienced, causing us to refer to their facility as the ‘Mayo Clinic for Pet Care’. We can’t thank them enough, and would highly recommend their services to anyone needing quality pet care.

Dr. Holmes is a native of Michigan and attended Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Her post-graduate training included a year-long rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine, followed by a three-year residency in small animal surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.

In 2012, Dr. Holmes earned her board certification as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. She has lectured on surgical topics at the national and international level and has written book chapters on minimally invasive techniques. She has also served as an instructor at North Carolina State University. Although she is experienced in all areas of small animal surgery, Dr. Holmes is particularly interested in minimally invasive techniques such as arthroscopy, minimally invasive fracture repair, thoracoscopy, and laparoscopy. She also has a strong background in the airway, head and neck, and urinary tract surgeries as well as surgical oncology.
