Park Avenue Cleaners I

Okay, first of all, I can't seem to find the real name of this place. The receipts say Frontier cleaners, the signs for parking right outside say Park Ave. Cleaners and the signs on the street say $2.25 cleaners. Whatever their name is, I would strongly recommned not to use this place for your dry cleaning.



I took a dress there to be cleaned after having worn it a few weeks before. The dress was fine when I wore it.



I dropped the dress off, when I went to pick it up the next day, it didn't look like it had been pressed well so I asked if they could press it again. I went back the next day and the dress was lost, they had no idea where it was. I went back again and they had found the dress and gave it back to me in plastic like it had been cleaned.



I took the dress home and found a rip in the sleeve and two holes between the zipper and the dress. There is no way I could have worn the dress with the holes near the zipper. I think I would have noticed two gaping holes while wearing it. So I took the dress back to the cleaners and they said they could fix it.



I called them a week later (after hearing nothing from them) and they said that since the dress had never been cleaned, they didn't do the damage and they aren't responsible.



Okay, so either they had me pay for a service they didn't provide and let me take the dress home thinking that--completely unprofessional and unethical. Or they did clean it and they don't want to pay for the damage they did--completely unprofessional and unethical.



They did refund me my $2.25. But seriously, now I have made 5 trips to the dry cleaners and all I have to show for it is a dirty, damaged dress. What a rip off.

I have been using Park Avenue Cleaners in San Antonio for over three years. I have always been satisfied with the cleaning and laundry services, until recently. I took 7 pairs of slacks and 5 blouses in this morning for laundry and dry cleaning but left with clothes in hand. I was told that the blouses were more expensive to launder because they had to be done individually as women's blouses do not fit on the machine. My blouses are larger than many men's shirts (I amd 5'10" and wear an XL) and I find this rationale to be total nonsense. My blouses were always charged the men's rate in the past but now, all of a sudden, they no longer "fit on the machine"? I guess this is the way to rip off customers in a day when we are all trying to make it through the recession. Shame on you and all cleaning services that pull this disservice on your female customers, the customers that use dry cleaning services more than their male counterparts. If I am unsuccessful in finding a cleaners that treat all customers equally, I guess my washer and dryer will get more use. My water bill is cheaper than your service for sure.
