Practice Style: While Dr. Zinkel’s credentials attest to his technical skills, his professional ethics and his humanized approach are equally important. While many physicians are practicing high-volume medicine with physician assistants and extenders, he chooses to care for his patients personally — valuing quality of care over the number of patients seen. Dr. Zinkel and his patients always communicate freely. “This patient-focused approach is reassuring. It allows better continuity, with lower risk for errors,” he explains. “Certainly, the technicalities of surgery are critical to an outcome, but the human element of our profession is equally critical. Patients aren’t just incisions.”

Plays God

This man had my mothet convinced that if she didnt have these back surgeries that she would have a hump on her back and be worse off, he stated with one fusion, then another then other, this went on for years, after the last fusion she devolop a brain aneurysm from all the stress of surgeries, she almost died but came back with short term memory loss, at that time the rods that were placed in her back started coming out, they left her with a metal rod sticking out of her back for six months until they found time for her, when they finally removed the rod, i dont know what happened during the surgery but her mind was wiped clean couldn't walk, knew no one and its been a down hill battle since, she is now in the hospital dying, my mother is 59 and looks 80, so everyone told my mother that zinkel was god and i guess he is because now she has a few weeks left to live, he used my mother as a guinea pig and shorted her time here on earth! Beware these doctor's dont care who you are and your quality of life.

My interaction with Dr. Zi...

My interaction with Dr. Zinkel was the worst I’ve ever had with a physician. He was so entirely off base with his diagnoses that I am amazed he has made it this far. He is rude, short and insulting. If you take the chance and utilize his services, I will suggest you NEVER disagree with him. You will be dismissed.

Best Neurosurgeon In Town

Dr. Zinkel just completed my back fusion a few weeks ago and I think he's the best neurosurgeon there is! I've seen several physicians over the last few years for my back and I only wish I had heard about him sooner. From the moment my husband and I walked into his office he explained in detail the findings of my tests and gave me several options for treatment. Dr. Zinkel treated us with respect and care from the moment we met him, he's exceptional!

Arrogant

John Zinkel is very arrogant. He performed surgery on me to alleviate a problem. There were nerve problems afterward and he refused to see me. He insisted I go to my family doctor instead. My family doctor had me hospitalized for observation and evaluation. Another neurosurgeon and neurologist were consulted and confirmed nerve damage and put me on medication for it and recommend a nerve block.

After surgery I made three phone calls to Dr. Zinkel about pains I was having and requested a call back. He never returned my calls.

I would not recommend Dr. John Zinkel due to his lack of care after surgery.
