Medical Weight Loss
RCBM has experienced significant growth over last 10 years, particularly in the last three years with the COVID pandemic. Kara is a 56-year-old accountant who presented to RCBM with depression. Her depressive symptoms responded to medication treatment, but she was persistently concerned with her weight gain over the last five years. She tried many methods to lose weight through diet, exercise, and various commercial programs. At her recent meeting with her primary care physician, Kara was diagnosed with high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, and a body mass index (BMI) of 34. RCBMâ€™s Medabolic Program intervened in several ways. First, we were able to move her to an antidepressant medication that did not affect her weight. Secondly, we referred this patient to one of our therapists to address the underlying causes of depression and to one of our registered dietitians to assess eating habits and develop a personalized nutrition care plan using a non-diet approach. Finally, we started her on Wegovy. Six months into treatment, Kara was able to lose 22 pounds, which was 12% of her body weight. Kara began to feel better mentally and physically, was able to reduce her cholesterol medication and remove her blood pressure medication. She found a new interest in exercising and enjoyment in spending time with her family.

RCBM is dedicated to accurately and fully diagnosing ADHD in children, adolescents, and adults with ADHD through our psychological screening process. We believe that each individual should be carefully evaluated. Our patients obtain a full diagnostic interview where we can understand the full history and current concerns. In addition, psychological testing allows us to precisely diagnose the specific type of ADHD (ADHD combined type, ADHD predominantly inattentive type, ADHD predominantly hyperactive-impulsive type). Furthermore, we can diagnose other conditions that commonly co-occur with ADHD that may include depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), panic disorder, learning disabilities, sleep disorders, and substance use disorders.

Panic disorder is a type of anxiety disorder that results in panic attacks, which are sudden feelings of terror when there is not any actual danger. The individual experiencing the panic attack may feel a sense of loss of control. Physical symptoms such as rapid heart rate, shortness of breath and lightheadedness may also occur. It is not uncommon for the physical symptoms of panic to be mistaken for a heart attack and lead to a medical office or emergency department visit.
