“I can’t really begin to express how thankful I am for the caring, considerate, professional staff who administered my husband’s paracentesis; primarily Stephanie Cowan, but also Callie Reger, and assistants Lyn and Robin. My husband recently passed away, but I am positive that I have Stephanie to thank for saving his life at least twice earlier in the year — once, when he had had a heart attack, and her sharp eye noted the symptoms, and she sent us straight to the Emergency Department after his paracentesis. The second time was during a hospital stay, when he’d been checked in for a minor surgery. The doctor following his case — not his regular physician — wasn’t paying close attention, and if Stephanie hadn’t put a bug in my ear about it, he would have sent him home. Sound waves are used to examine internal organs. An ultrasound technologist will apply a warm gel to the skin which allows the sound waves to be transmitted and received from inside the body. No radiation is utilized to produce the images.

Our Nuclear Medicine radiologists are board-certified physicians with special training in Nuclear Medicine procedures including: Nuclear Medicine Bone Scan, Diamox Scan, Gallium Whole Body Scan, Gastric Emptying, Hepatobiliary Scan, Meckel’s Scan, Parathyroid Scan, Stress Gated Heart Scan, Shunt Studies, Thallium Cardiac Scan, and Thyroid Scan.
Mammography
Also called ductography or contrast-assisted mammography, galactography is the injection of a contrast material into the ducts of the breast to observe the internal structure of the duct.
Computed Tomography
A CT, computerized tomography (or CAT) scan, is a special examination in which multiple images are taken through an area of the body. You will be placed on a table which will move you into the scanner. After each image is taken, the table will move a small distance to take the next picture. For many CT scans, contrast material will be injected into your vein.
Chemotherapy
Brain disorders are also easily detectable with PET imaging. This scan can help identify abnormalities and help differentiate between Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological diseases. A PET scan can pinpoint a brain tumor, help define whether it is benign or malignant, and after chemotherapy determine to what extent cancer treatment has been effective.

Our personnel are well qualified, through education and certification, to perform medical imaging, interpret your images, and administer your radiation therapy treatments.
Interventional Radiology
Physicians who subspecialize in interventional radiology are different than general radiologists. They are board-certified radiologists with subspecialty training in interventional radiology. Interventional radiology are involved in direct patient care in the hospital setting as well as at our Vanishing Veins outpatient clinic. We work closely with referring providers to take the best course of action for our patients. Our interventional providers routinely round on hospitalized patients who have undergo a variety of interventional procedures.
