Dental Examination
During your initial appointment, you will receive a thorough examination and discussion of potential orthodontic treatment options. This important visit lasts 45 minutes to an hour and includes some preliminary diagnostic records which will give us some insights into your orthodontic needs. We understand that your time is valuable, so your comprehensive exam will be thorough and will answer any questions you may have for your future treatment.

You will also notice that your toothbrush will need to be replaced more frequently due to the wear and tear that braces puts on the bristles of your brush. Take your time and try to reach difficult-to-reach spots underneath your archwire. After rinsing out with water, be sure to use mouthwash and fluoride treatment during and after your orthodontic treatment.

Yes. A tooth with a crown will move just like a tooth with a simple filling. When teeth are missing, orthodontic treatment will aid in the alignment of the remaining teeth.

Myself as well as my sister, brother and boyfriend have had orthodontic treatment from Legendary Smiles and staff. I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say they are extremely friendly, professional and knowledgeable. My sister has had her braces off for almost ten years and they are still as straight as the day they came off. They also offer retainer check ups, which can make a big difference over the years! Legendary Smiles is also very knowledgeable; during one of my x ray exams, they noticed a dark spot on one of my back teeth and recommended I get a second opinion. Turns out I needed a root canal, something my dentist had missed. Very happy to have found your office and I will continue to refer you to friends and family!

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral Surgery
After earning his bachelorâ€™s degree from Utah State, Dr. Lloyd moved to the Midwest where he completed his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree at The Ohio State University. He then worked for several years in oral surgery and general dentistry before specializing in orthodontics. His residency training and Masterâ€™s thesis were completed at the highly regarded orthodontic program at Ohio State. He has successfully passed both written and clinical components of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) exam which makes him one of the few board-certified orthodontists in Northern Nevada. He has also conducted and published research in the fields of oral cancer and craniofacial stem cells. He has presented findings on these subjects to national and international audiences.
Jaw Surgery
Corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) treats and corrects abnormalities of the facial bones, specifically the jaws and the teeth. Often, these abnormalities cause difficulty associated with chewing, talking, sleeping and other routine activities. Orthognathic surgery corrects these problems and, in conjunction with orthodontic treatment, will improve the overall appearance of the facial profile.

Thank you for choosing Legendary Smiles for your orthodontic care. The doctors at Legendary Smiles and their team have developed a list of foods to avoid while going through orthodontic treatments. For the most part, we recommend avoiding these foods because they can cause damage to your braces and/or your teeth. In general, hard foods, sticky foods, and sugary foods are best to be avoided. If you ever need clarification on what food items are considered OK to eat or you have any questions about your treatment, please contact our office and we will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
