I have rarely dealt with Radio Shack in the past. But when I had, it definitely left me wondering how they managed to stay in business? The selection is poor. And product knowledge is almost non-existent.
That is pretty evident. What wasn't obvious, was the level of dysfunction within their operations.

Here's my current situation. I purchased an HDTV antenna online to pick up at their Lakewood, Woodruff store in early December 2008. After tracking my package to the store, I visited the store on more than one occasion to recover this package. Every time I was sent back home, because they could not find my order. I finally called their customer service department, who ended up coordinating this search and rescue effort. The next day I was informed that they had located my package, so I went to pick it up on January 10 2009.

I later discovered that HD doesn't require a specialized antenna, so I chose to return the product on the 30th of January, without even opening it. I took it back to the same store where I was given a printout of the return confirmation. And like it stated, I was to get my refund in the same way I paid for it.
After a month and a half, when the refund did not show in my statement, I went back to the store to find out what was going on. I was told to give it more time, and finally to speak to the store manager. Not being able to find the manager because of his days off, or whole day meetings, I've had to resort to getting my credit card company involved, and now they too are getting the run around.

The fact is Radio Shack is a company that seized to be relevant decades ago. They don't compete, they can't compete. Do yourself a favor, and take your business to the larger stores like Best Buys and Fry's Electronics. They will treat you better and you will save yourself a lot of headaches. That's a promise.
