We were looking for a smaller dog after we lost our beloved Sheltie. I had been looking everywhere for one that I thought would fit in our family that included another dog & a cat. When I first saw the picture of him, I knew I had to get more information on him. We made an appointment to meet him. We had to drive 1-1/2 to meet him but he was well worth it. We were greeted the minute we walked in their door by friendly staff & volunteers. We were given time to spend with our choice & we fell in love immediately. I asked about his background & was able to see into his life before K9 rescue. They gave us a week with him at home to see if our other pets would accept him & he accept them. They have never had a problem with each other. You will find them laying near each other often. The week has now past & no he is not going back. He has our forever home. If you are looking for some great people who really care about these dogs, go to K9 Stray Rescue League. They are great to work with.

I visited a few animal shelters but K9 Stray Rescue league was the most helpful. When I walked in I was immediately assisted and they introduced me to the dog I saw on petfinder. After my visit I put a small deposit down and was given time to think. I came back two days later to adopt and I was provided with all possible information they had on the dog and I was given a free vet visit at Goodison Veterinary Center (they offer a few choices). Our experience was wonderful and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a dog.

Excellent rescue! Love our new pup we adopted last week. He is super sweet and vet checked him out with a clean bill of health.

We adopted a little 2 1/2 year old, female Chihuahua named Penny...she was a scared little thing but they gave us all the time we wanted to spend with her to see if we would take her home with us..yes we did..its taken a few days for her to warm up to us but now she jumps all over us and showers us with kisses....the people at the rescue were very friendly and answered any questions we had.

This year I adopted a wonderful dog from K9. The staff was very helpful and in knowing I wanted a senior suggested the perfect dog. We did a meet and greet with my senior girl which was very successful.

I definitely recommend this shelter to all looking for that special dog. The staff is knowledgable of the dogs under their care making for a sucessful adoption.

I have adopted two dogs from K9 Stray, and they both have been very well-suited for my home, family and life style. The K9 staff helped to guide me to making the right choice for my family and other animals. I liked that they were completely honest in telling me when they didn't feel that a dog was a good fit! Also, I love that K9 gives a free vet visit, our dogs were fully vetted with all shots, and temperament tested so we could better understand whether they would be a gel with our family and other dogs.

We made several visits to the shelter to browse, learn about adopting, and then finally adopt. Each time we (myself and my 2 teenage sons) were treated respectfully, given great info, and given all the time we needed to ask questions and browse. The volunteers took the time to understand our family and needs to help determine what type of dog would and wouldn't work for us. One volunteer in particular spoke directly to my kids which was so helpful in having someone else tell them the same things I'd been trying to tell them. We adopted our dog 7 weeks ago and are very happy. We will definitely recommend, be back, and support in any way we can.

What an amazing joke. I have never been so sickened by a human before. The idea is to find dogs good homes right? I work so therefore I an unsuitable for a puppy. Really? I have rescued 3...trained and well mannered family members. This place lets down all the dogs they have by ignorance. How sad. If I didnt work...I could not afford to save a dogs life..duhhh

In the past 6 months, we have adopted two dogs from K9. I cannot praise this shelter enough. The staff is amazing! The facility is very clean and organized, and obviously well run. I am totally in love with our two adoptees.. The adoption process was uncomplicated. To address other unwarranted comments here, these volunteers do one spectacular job in placing these animals in appropriate homes. And yes, they do want to find a forever home for each and every dog, so they will present options other than your specific request. The two pups I adopted are something I never thought I would want, but all I had to do was meet them, and I knew it was right!! These people know what they are doing!

I am so impressed that as soon as I am able, I will become a volunteer at K9.

A big heartfelt thank you to all at K9. Smitty and Stuey send their love!!

We adopted two absolutely incredible dogs from K-9 Stray within the last five years. The staff took much time with us to ensure we would have exactly the right fit for our home and family. It was very obvious to us that this is a staff that cares deeply for their animals. Not only were the dogs both fully vetted, but we also received free vet visits to follow up to ensure that our dogs were Healthy. Additionally, K-9's facilities were very up-to-date. My wife and I highly suggest this kennel as an option of where to adopt a dog.

Initial purchase of puppy was good 7 years ago. Had situation arise where we could no longer keep dog and were told we could bring him back to the shelter and they would find him a new home and post him up on Petfinder. After multiple phone calls, workers at the shelter were rude and hostile and have posted horrible untruths in the post on Petfinder. Horrified and astounded at the lack of professionalism from the staff!

WARNING

This rescue is sub par at best. Ever since this shelter has been under new management there have been many many problems. But the most disturbing is the Parvo that is running wild through their kennels. They have had numerous cases in just the past several weeks. It is very obvious that they have no idea how to handle this problem. They are bringing infected dogs in from out of state without being properly vetted. They have even adopted puppies out with the Parvo virus only to have them returned. This rescue needs to be investigated by the state of Michigan.

I would have to say hands down the worst k-9 rescue place I have ever been. I have been looking for a puppy-young dog, I went here and let them know my living status. They bring out a very old Chihuahua "which is the only breed I told them I do NOT want." After letting them know that I did not like the dog the lady looked at her sheet and then she decided what was a good dog for us. She showed us another dog they had just got in. This dog was sick and a 6 years old lab, again not anything I was looking for. I was very displeased as they made me fill out an application for the dog. So I thought I would call and give them another shot since they have lots of dogs, after my phone call one of the ladies there put a puppy on hold for me to come see him the next day, when I called later that night she stated she gave the dog to a more suitable couple. I was very unhappy, not only was I told I could come see the dog but they did not even give me a chance. This place tries too hard and should let the :person: looking for the dog take a look, some dogs are different with other people and dogs also choose their owner. You cannot just force it. I can happily say that we now have a puppy and can say that it was not from this horrible place. My advice, save your time and money and do not go here to get judged and end up with a dog you do not want

The K9 stray rescue league is ...

The K9 stray rescue league is not professional at all. I made an appointment for this weekend to see a dog in foster care with them and halfway through my 3 hour drive to see this dog, she calls and informs me that she's already given him away to someone else who came to see him.

I am not upset about the fact that I did not get this dog, but the fact that I was led to believe I would at least be able to meet him and "plead my case" so to speak.

EVERYBODY'S application that she reviewed and called back should have had a chance.

And I most certainly should not have had to waste two hours of my time driving for no reason.
