Northwest Termite & Pest Control uses IPM, Integrated Pest Management, to solve your pest problems. This approach relies primarily on non-chemical means (such as education, inspection, sanitation and cooperation of the customer) to prevent and manage pest infestations. Our goal is to keep pests away without adversely affecting the customer’s environment. Chemical treatments are used when pests fail to succumb to more conservative methods. While using chemical treatments, Northwest Termite & Pest Control uses the most effective treatments that are the least toxic to humans, animals and the environment. We minimize the risk by limiting the volume of treatment used.

Spiders
Recent studies by scientists have confirmed that the venom of both European and American hobo spiders is chemically identical, so geographical differences in venom would not explain the difference in reputations of the spiders. Attempts to duplicate the rabbit skin toxicology experiment mentioned above have failed (more recent runs only produced red marks on the rabbits, rather than necrotic wounds). There are scientists who claim that at least in Canada no spider bites leading to dermal necrosis are ever caused by Tegenaria agrestis. There are also many other medical conditions (other than bite wounds), some more common than spider bites, that involve tissue necrosis. Furthermore, identification of spiders is a specialist skill and an average hospital doctor cannot be relied on to make an accurate identification of a spider species without a good microscope, some specialist spider literature, and considerable experience. A diagnosis at-a-glance by a non-expert, comparing a spider with a photo, is almost completely worthless. (For a comparison of the toxicity of various species, see the list of spiders having Medically Significant Venom.
Termites
There are 2 main types of termites in Washington State – the subterranean termite and the dampwood termite. Termites feed on wood or wood products. Most termites need a moist environment (the soil or wet wood). If the termite colony is allowed to grow, they can produce great structural damage. Detecting termites can be pretty hard, but there are some signs that can give them away.
Bed Bugs
Removal and effective control of your home and office for termites, carpenter ants, spiders, hornets, yellow jackets, moths, flies, bedbugs and more.
Cockroaches
American Cockroach is the largest cockroach found, and can live through freezing temperatures, live up to 2 to 3 months without food, and a month without water. They are mostly found in restaurants, grocery stores, and commercial areas where food is prepared or stored. They live in moist areas, such as bathtubs, clothes hampers, basements and sewers, etc..
Bees
A typical yellow jacket worker is about 12 mm (0.5 inches) long, short and blocky, with alternating black and yellow bands on the abdomen while the queen is larger, about 19 mm (0.75 inches) long. (The different black and yellow patterns on the abdomen help separate various species.) Workers are sometimes confused with honey bees, especially when flying in and out of their nests. Yellowjackets, in contrast to honey bees, are not covered with tan-brown dense hair on their bodies and lack the flattened hairy hind legs used to carry pollen. Yellowjackets have a lance-like stinger without barbs and can sting repeatedly whereas honey bees have a barbed stinger and sting only once. Some have yellow on the face. Mouthparts are well-developed for capturing and chewing insects with a tongue for sucking nectar, fruit and other juices. Nests are built in trees, shrubs or in protected places such as inside human-made structures (attics, hollow walls or flooring, in sheds, under porches and eaves of houses), or in soil cavities, mouse burrows, etc. Nests are made from wood fiber chewed into a paper-like pulp.
Wasps
There are close to 20 different species of hornets known worldwide. Hornets are not a native insect to North America. However, overtime one species has made its way across the Atlantic and now is active all across North America. It is the Vespa Crabo, or commonly called the European hornet. While this is the only true hornet found in North America, many types of wasps are given the same title due to their similar body shape and size. The most common wasp to be identified as a hornet is the Dolichovespula Maculata, which has been given the name Bald Faced hornet despite being a wasp.
Earwigs
While earwigs can be considered in some ways a beneficial part of the garden, they can become a nuisance because of their diet. Since they prefer cool, moist places, a rolled up damp newspaper placed where earwig activity is suspected can be effective in collecting them. The newspaper can then either be discarded or shaken out. Placing diatomaceous earth in key spots around the home (bathroom, baseboards, window frames) can be a long-term repellent.
Flies
Some types of maggots found on corpses can be of great use to forensic scientists. By their stage of development, these maggots can be used to give an indication of the time elapsed since death, as well as the place the organism died. The size of the house fly maggot is 10–20 mm (⅜–¾ in). At the height of the summer season, a generation of flies (egg to adult) may be produced in 12–14 days.
Centipedes
Our services include complete carpenter ant colony elimination, termite pre-treatments, S.P.I. inspections and attic inspections, installation of vapor barriers, Snake treatments, rodent exclusions, insect control and Termite treatments, Carpenter ant Treatments. We also treat for Weevils, Centipedes, Beetles, Moths, and many other insects.
Beetles
Hornets
The European hornets are typically 1 to 1.5 inches in length and have six legs and two pairs of wings and have a predominately reddish color. This is in contrast to the Bald Faced hornet which has a similar body style but features more of a black color with yellow markings.
A venomous snake is a snake that uses modified saliva, venom, delivered through fangs in its mouth, to immobilize or kill its prey. Venomous snakes include several families of snakes and do not constitute a formal classification group used in taxonomy. The term poisonous snake is false - poison is inhaled or ingested whereas venom is injected. (In contrast, a few non-venomous species are constrictors such as pythons, anacondas, and boa constrictors which suffocatetheir prey.) Snake venom can contain many different active agents, and can potentially be a mix of neurotoxins (which attack the nervous system), hemotoxins (which attack the circulatory system), cytotoxins, bungarotoxins and many other toxins that affect the body in different ways. Snake venom is never a single type of toxin.
Mice are small rodents, resembling diminutive rats. They usually have pointed snouts and small ears. The body is typically elongated with slender, usually hairless tails, but different types of mice show large variations. Body dimensions vary considerably by species, though some approximate values are available: total length 28-130 mm, mass 2.5 to >34g.
