General Info: Accomplished designer and photographer Mark Gentile relaunched his side project, Hip Pictures, in May 2015. Hip Pictures sells modern FRAMED WALL ART with most items priced under $120. Eschewing high-end camera equipment, Mark shoots from his iPhone and then experiments with his digital toolbox of apps to create his images. The spontaneity factor is a crucial element that defines — what has become — Hip Pictures. His process is not arbitrary, though the images featured on the site often began with mundane moments like exits from his home or a bike ride to the gym. The presence of pattern and texture are often evident in the final product. You can see that in his photographs of architecture and plant life. It’s instinctive, but maybe learned, too — the result of being a graphic designer for so many years.
