Founded in 1858, The Lewiston Police Department is a law enforcement agency that is located in Lewiston, Maine. It serves the residents through its administration and patrol divisions. Its Crime Investigation Department s (C.I.D.) members work closely with agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.) and Drug Enforcement Administration in the areas of arson investigation, suicide and crime scene search. Additionally, its liaison officers handles the investigation of crimes involving juveniles. It handles cases related to child neglect and sexual abuse. The department also operates a Youth Aid unit that offers a range of programs throughout the year, such as bus, gun, bicycle and Halloween safety.
