A'Roma Ristorante

Love this place! We've been here four times since finding it about a year ago and have ordered appetizers, the calamari steak, chicken cardinale, grilled halibut, rack of lamb, cheesecake, tiramasu, crostata and several wines. EVERY item was flavorful yet not heavy! Nice presentation. Greeting is pleasant; servers attentive. (They were also willing to customize a dish -- to put a certain sauce with a different meat.)



Room is a low-key atmosphere with nice setups - white tablecloths, cloth napkins, candlelight and so on. Music plays in background but does not interfere with conversation. We've been here dressy and casual and were treated the same way. Most people seem to wear casual but nice clothing. We've also been here when a huge party had rented out the main dining area. They seated us in a smaller, secluded area (away from the party noises) and the service was still excellent. We were not ignored because of the other, larger party going on.



I know that when I go here I can depend upon a pleasant and enjoyable dinner experience.

O m g my girl friends and I try to go here once a month! We love this place! it has exceptional traditional food wine and the service is awesome! its family owned and operated...they make you feel like one of the family! I cant get enough of this place! definitely should check this place out if you love italian food THIS IS THE ITALIAN PLACE TO GO TO!

The owner of this restaurant is a jerk, and that's putting it nicely. After a mix up with the credit cards (they didn't want to split the bill on two separate cards, of which one declined but we gave them another one) the owner came to our table and said, "we shouldn't have to deal with bad cards!". I was shocked and mortified! Then he said, "I have to pay for every time I swipe the card!". What a joke, you only pay for a % of the transaction. Never again.

My daughter and I went into A'Roma with a great deal of trepadation .... the name didn't seem right, but we were hungry and were just visiting for the night. The food was exceptional and the service was better. From the moment we entered the restarant we were greated by that smell you get when you go for italian, you know garlic and olive oil. The host was great and even through we weren't dressed right (everyone else looked like they were going out for the evening) and gave us a great table, where the service started. I have eaten in a great number of great restaurants in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Honolulu. I would stack this up with the best, anywhere.



1) Great food: done to perfection seasoned just right and brought hot to the table.

2) Service: I would put this service up against the very best I have ever experienced (spago and scandia in their prime). Every time you wanted something they were there, when you didn't need them they were gone. It called anticipation, without being harrassed. Hard if not impossible to do.

3) Mood: Once you get out of the parking lot and into the restaurant it was upscale, without the attitude.

4) Price: For what you get you will spend the money on gas (I live in Carlsbad, a bit far for a meal) to drive the extra miles to get to this place.



This is not a jeans and t shirt place. The waiters are in tie and tails (as I recall) and the host was in a suit.



Glad I got a chance to comment. I keep looking for reasons why I need to be up that way to stop in again.
