one of the only hotels i have stayed at with 3 double beds per room so it is great for a large group. it was unfortunate that the weather was colder as we would have loved to hang out by the open bar area it was modern and inviting. the hotel is directly on the water with a resort feel. although there are rooms that do not have a water view ours did and we loved the sand beach and the hammocks outside our room. the only draw back to this hotel was that with 2 couples and children in the room together you needed the privacy of the bathroom for getting dressed and it was small and out of date. when in key west you don't want to spend all day in your room anyway.

My family and I are on a budget, so I do a lot of research when planning our vacations. I try to find the best hotel/resort at the lowest price. I hit it out of the ballpark with the Ibis Bay. My 13-year-old son was all set NOT to like it, based on the places I've booked in the Wisconsin Dells (that's another review). But I could tell within a couple of hours that my son liked it. He got to go kayaking right there at the resort (in the bay, but he can still say it's the Gulf of Mexico and not be lying). He also enjoyed the pool and the very fun "Dive In Movie," which the Ibis Bay offers every Wednesday night. We all were entertained by the parrot, Lex, who lives in a cage right outside the lobby. Out room was really cute. I don't know why some people on here have complained about the size (or lack thereof). Our room was about the same size as any chain hotel room. We didn't eat much at the restaurant, the Stoned Crab, because it was outside our price range. But we did have two appetize

Ibis Bay is Key West at its best. So laid back it is horizontal but with style and service that would sicken bigger name hotels. We just loved the place. Ibis Bay is just on the edge of downtown Key West so it is easy to get to and because it is slightly out of town, it has space. Space for private beaches, a giant tortoise sanctuary, parrots, hammocks in the palm trees, jet ski hire, a huge pool, bar, restaurant... Best of all, the place is immaculate. A team of quiet, efficient guys and some birds are up at dawn making sure your resort is pristine at all times. I can fault most places but I cannot fault Ibis Bay Beach Resort.

We stayed at Ibis Bay for our first night in Key West because I really wanted to have some time down at the other end of the island. When we first got there I was very worried as I saw tons of kids on spring break but we had no problems at all. The staff was so nice at the front desk and really took great care of us. At night the staff did a great job at making sure there was no loud noise and we had a great sleep. The next day we did not check into our condo in old town until 4:00 and the staff let us hang out at the pool for the day and even watched our luggage. We had breakfast and lunch at the Stoned Crab and you have to try the stuffed shrimp poppers, they were so good! They also make some great frozen drinks at the poolside bar. One thing we all really liked was that they also had a cooler with cold water by the pool (nice touch). I think I will start every trip with a night at the Ibis from now on! Well done :) Oh and we all loved the mango soap.

This place has everything you need for a most comfortable stay. Yeah, there's no coffee maker in the room, but coffee is complementary for guests at the excellent Stoned Crab Restaurant. Service is impeccable, from the front desk to the maid service to the restaurant. The rooms and the beds are most comfortable, if a bit rustic, and ours did have a refrigerator/freezer and a free washer and dryer in a small alcove. The semi-private beach outside our french doors had a small picnic table and several hammocks, and the ibises and iguanas visited almost daily. The staff made sure we wanted for nothing -- everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and fun was provided with grace and style. The location is convenient to both the airport and downtown. And Tom's daily pool party is an absolute must.

My husband and I were doing the whole Overseas Highway and ended our trip in Key West. Ibis Bay staff was FANTASTIC - gave us best rate with a same-day arrival check-in. Bay front room - beautiful view! Romantic and laid back! Staff was wonderfully nice, helpful - room clean and completely 50s retro cute. Couldn't have been happier! Much love to the tortoise on-site, too - what an awesome guy he is!

I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Key West. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the hammocks spread around the grounds are spectacular, the pool was refreshing and the waterfront view is great. The location is perfect for riding bikes around the island or downtown to Duvall St. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous, especially Tracy, who we spoke to originally to set up our reservations. We had a death in the family and had to leave a day early, Tracy and Claudine took care of getting us checked out early without any problems. In addition to a great place to stay, I recommend the kite-boarding lessons to anyone who wants to give it a try. Matt and his staff were excellent. A microwave would be nice to have available in the room. We will definitely go back next year.

We loved the resort, loved Lexi the bird and the turtles, having the wildlife made it a fun experience, the rooms are fun and very clean, the staff is wonderful, the Manager was extremely accommodating as our plane left late in the day so she arranged to have our check out extended which we were grateful for . The onsite Stoned Crab restaurant / bar has wonderful food and a fun atmosphere we loved Margaret the bartender and the rest of the staff. The location is convenient to the airport and beaches and within 2 miles of Duval street so a bike/scooter is a must, we rented a small car which worked out fine. It is clear that the resort is in a continuous upgrade but it's being done very low key so as not to interfere with the guests. We were honored to meet the owner Chris who was very accommodating to the questions we had about the resort and it's buildings, he is proud of his resort and deserves to be. As said before this is not a chain resort and that is a good thing.

Ibis Bay includes its own activities desk, with on-site kayaking, paddleboarding and watercraft tours. We've never stayed at any Key West lodging with as many available options for fun! The large pool area has lots of chairs, a great view, a poolside bar and is directly connected to the Stoned Crab restaurant. We enjoyed a couple of meals at the restaurant, as well as the complimentary coffee in the morning. Visitors could easily enjoy an entire visit without leaving Ibis Bay (but you can't go to Key West without heading to Old Town!).

I love this place! Of all the places I stayed in Florida, this was the best. Very refreshing after staying in chain-resort places. Ibis Bay has nice tile floors in room. Ours had a fridge and wifi, just had to call to get the password. Loved the decor. Had a really nice, retreat feel to it. Felt like I was on vacation finally. I would definitely recommend this place, and will tell my friends about it.

After numerous stays in 'Old Town' Key West, my wife and I opted to try the Ibis Bay Resort in 'New Town' for our January vacation and brought some family members along for the fun. We had a blast and couldn't have enjoyed the resort more! The lobby welcomed us, with bright colors and a friendly Macaw gracing the entrance. We stayed in a courtyard room with a single queen bed, our family in one of the two-bed rooms facing the waterfront; both were beautiful and clean, with tropical designs and colors. The beds were comfortable and well-kept and the rooms include flat-screen TVs and mini-fridges. The resort staff cleaned our rooms and refreshed linens daily.

Ibis Bay is a refreshing and fun place to stay in Key West, away from all the hustle of Duval Street, but close enough to go enjoy a sunset cruise or a Pirate's Punch at Capt. Tony's.

Had the most amazing time at this hotel, waking up with a view of the beach and the sea, eating delicious food at the restaurant, heaven. The facilities for the hotel are second to none, any type of activity and they can arrange it at the fun desk. The weekly outdoor cinema night is also really fun.
