Liposuction is the surgical vacuuming of fat from beneath the surface of the skin. It is used to reduce fullness in any area of the body. It is an excellent method of spot reduction but is not an effective method of weight loss.

Breast reduction candidates generally include women who are bothered by large, sagging breasts that cause uncomfortable symptoms (including back, neck or shoulder pain; skin irritation or rashes; breathing problems; and shoulder indentations from bra straps). Conservative treatment including physical therapy and weight loss should be attempted first.

Once the bandages and dressings have been removed, you’ll wear a support bra for several weeks. You may find that some breast sensation returns and that the incision lines fade. It’s critical to remain consistent with breast examinations and mammography. If implants have been placed, there are special radiography facilities that are equipped to perform mammograms on women with implants.
