From the beginning of his practice, Dr. Turkewitz has had a special interest in the care of older adults. He became board certified in Geriatric Medicine in 1990, and was re-certified in 2000, 2010 and 2020. He has served as a teacher of residents both in the hospital and his office, and as the medical director of a nursing home and rehabilitation center. He has regularly won awards for teaching excellence, and has been named as a top-rated primary care physician by the Washington Consumers checkbook, and a 'Top Doc' in Geriatric Medicine by Washingtonian Magazine.
