Mercer County Head Start

My child went to the early head start program, it was a great program they provided transportation, meals, & small field trips. My child graduated from the early head start program last year & when I went to sign him up for the pre- k program I was told that I would first have to have reliable transportation because they don't provide transportation & your child can only miss but so many days of school. So I just didn't sign him up because we didn't have a car & I know absolutely no one in the area. Exact same thing this year so basically if you don't have a vehicle then you & your child are just SOL. Pre-counts my A** it's extremely unfair that my child has to wait to learn from real teachers until he gets to kindergarten so of course he'll be behind. What really Makes me upset is that the department of education is the ones paying for this & you guys are that cheap that you can't provide transportation but you provided catering, & unnecessary field trips, toys, games, transportation, everything for early head start but not pre k I personally think pre k is much more important. I am going to complain until someone really important hears me, my child deserves better. This is the only county I've heard of that does this. Plus there are no private head start programs or any other options nothing at all smh gotta be kidding me!!!!!
