Split Endz

Being a military spouse, I rely on word of mouth information. I was at a function recently and I met a girl with great highlights. She passed on the salon info to me. First impression: Loved the Decor!!!! With the beach theme I almost forgot how cold it was outside! I got a great haircut/highlight for a very resonable price...that is unheard of here in DC! The service was fantastic, the price was right, and I felt like the stylist really care about their clients. Thanks to the ladies at Split Endz, I look fabulous!!!

i went into split endz this past weekend for a keratin express treatment. i have very thick, coarse and dry hair that is partly wavy. during the summer months i really can't do anything with my hair because of the humidity so when i heard about the keratin treatment, i needed to try it because it claimed to eliminate frizz and cut down on styling time. there is the longer lasting brazilian blowout and the shorter term keratin express which i did because i wanted to try it out first to see if it worked.



i got the treatment done on saturday. i was told not to wash my hair for 24 hours. on sunday evening, i washed my hair with sulfate-free shampoo and was glad to find that my hair was easier to blow dry and took less than five minutes to straighten. what really surprised me was the texture of the hair. it didn't feel thick and difficult to handle while styling.



The true test came today. it went up to 96 degrees here today (felt more like 100 due to the humidity). i went out to walk the dog and when i came back in i was happy to find that my hair hadn't gone into the crazy POOF mode it usually does after 2 minutes in humid climes. although i was sweating, my hair still maintained its shape with virtually no frizz, no poof and without the undesirable thickness which would normally make my hair look lucy from the peanuts comics.



i'm totally going to go for the longer term brazilian next time around.



Also, the salon was really surprising. this was my first time going to split endz. it is located at the end of what appears to be a very small strip mall. from the outside, it looks rather drab, but i had no idea the inside would be so fabulous. the interior is designed so that you feel like you're at a beach and it made me feel very cool and relaxed. The salon is clean and comfortable (as well as their bathroom - very nice!). the salon also has several rooms in the back for other services (i'm assuming skin care, nails, etc.) which looked very clean and comfortable. all around nice salon and i'm glad i found it. yea!



The lady who did my hair (ach! i can't remember her name. i know it starts with a J though) was so knowledgeable and patient when it came to explaining how the treatment worked and the differences between the brazilian and the keratin express. i felt more comfortable with the whole process - thank you!
