Carpets From Georgia

On May 5th I ordered 70 yards of carpet to be installed with pad. As of this date I still don't have the carpet, though they have half the price. I always had to call to inquire about what was going on. On May 13 I was told that it was back ordered and should run on May 18th. I called again on May 22 and Carol returned my call and said that it didn't pass quality control, but the mill was running another batch that same day and that it should ship on May 26. I called again and received a call back from Carol on June 1 stating that the carpet had "not landed yet" but that it didn't matter because she had already sent my check back on May 30. My check cleared teh bank on May 7th. I have now learned from the mill that the carpet has been on back order for weeks and is not scheduled to be run until July 2.



On June 2 there was another message on my answering machine from Carol stating that they received my carpet (not according to the mill), but that "we aren't going to let you have your carpet" because I accused her of lying and that they didn't want the business of me or any of my friends because I was "unreasonable." She also said that the reason she sent my check back to me was because I accused her of lying. She previously said that she sent my check back on May 30, however, I didn''t accuse her of lying until June 1st--two days later. She also said that "your carpet will not be given to you." All of this is documented on saved messages on my answering machine, and that is probably a good thing because it looks like I am going to have to take them to court. I have learned that this is probably a criminal matter; not a civil one, as it is larceny by conversion. No one will return my calls. I have left messages on the salesman's cell phone as well, and have not heard from him since the day the sale was made. Also, when the sale was made Richard the salesman had me write the check out to him instead of the company for tax purposes. I guess this should have been the first red flag.



I have also learned that the price they quoted me for everything was way under the cost of the carpet alone. I wonder if they didn't realize this and then just decide to string me along until I got tired of waiting, using my money the entire time. Honesty would have certainly gone a long way, I could have dealt with that.

I know that this entire thing is hard to follow as there is so much to it. PLEASE BEWARE.
