General Info
Shelsky's, the first appetizing shop to open in Brooklyn in 60 years, opened in 2011. We opened Shelsky's because Brownstone Brooklyn was missing a shop that sold the food that Peter Shelsky, the store's founding owner, ate growing up in New York. Jewish immigrants brought appetizing, a cuisine that includes smoked, cured, and pickled fish (think lox or smoked salmon, herring, whitefish, and sable) served with bagels and bialys. Shelsky's focuses on sourcing the finest smoked fish and caviar products from around the country and the world. We cure our own gravlax, bake our own bagels at our bagel shop, make all of our salads from scratch. Adding classic Jewish delicatessen meats and sandwiches to our store in 2014, Shelsky's offers all the traditional New York Jewish tasty treats, plenty of non-traditional items, homemade rugelach, babka, honey cake, bangin' sandwiches, exceptional coffee and tea, and so much more.Shelsky's, the first appetizing shop to open in Brooklyn in 60 years, opened in 2011.
