It maintains a citizens police academy that provides training programs related to law, firearms instruction, defensive tactics, first aid, patrol procedures and investigations. The Brighton Police Department supports the Explorer Program, which is a worksite-based program for youths between the ages of 14 and 20. The department maintains a patrol division that responds to service and accident-related calls. In addition, the division addresses issues related to traffic ordinances and crime prevention.
