Julia earned her certified family nurse practitioner from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2009. She has worked in family practice for 12 years, specializing in diabetes care and thyroid disease. She completed her post-master’s certificate in Endocrinology from Duke University in 2021.
Emergency Care
Charlie is a board-certified nurse practitioner. He graduated from New York University with his Master’s of Science in Nursing. As a nurse practitioner he has worked in urgent care settings and as a registered nurse he worked in emergency medicine and surgical units. He received his Bachelor’s of Nursing from Florida Atlantic University. Charlie is very passionate about treating patient’s as a whole and forming trusting relationships. Dr. Leslie Cotto attended the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus, for her undergraduate education and obtained a Degree in Biology. She then attended the San Juan Bautista School of Medicine in Puerto Rico for her Medical Degree. She subsequently completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Miami School of Medicine. After she completed her residency, she joined the JFK Medical Center and worked as a Hospitalist for 3 years. During that time, she was named the Program Director for the Diabetes Program.
Nephrology
William Alan Kaye, MD, FACP, is president and founder of Palm Beach Diabetes and Endocrine Specialists, PA, and president and cofounder of Metabolic Research Institute Inc., both in West Palm Beach, Florida. He is an affiliate assistant professor of medicine at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/JFK Medical Center, also in West Palm Beach. Dr. Kaye received his medical degree from Brown University, where he was elected to the Sigma Xi Scientific Honor Society. Following his internal medicine training at Brown and its affiliated hospitals, Dr. Kaye completed a nephrology fellowship at Cornell University Medical Center at New York Hospital and the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He subsequently joined the faculty of the Harvard University Medical School, where he served as a consultant to the prestigious Joslin Diabetes Center and the New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston. Concomitant with his faculty position he went on to complete an endocrinology and diabetes fellowship at that institution. Dr. Kaye has the distinction of being one of a handful of triple-boarded physicians (in internal medicine, endocrinology, and nephrology) in the world.

Hypothyroidism

You may have an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) or an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) which can cause a variety of symptoms such as fatigue, changes in weight, issues with bowel habits, and changes in your hair and skin. Dr. Gutierrez practiced for over 20 years at Boynton Beach Endocrinology, PA where she developed a vast clinical experience. She treated patients with diabetes, thyroid disorders, and other endocrine disorders in both the out-patient and in-patient setting. She also served as preceptor for podiatry residents at Bethesda East Hospital.
