Illness Treatment

Parasites Treatment and Control
Parasite Screening: Some parasites are transmissible to humans so annual screening for intestinal parasites is an important step to ensure your pet and family members stay healthy. Stools can appear to be normal as most parasites are not visible to the naked eye. A teaspoon of fresh feces is required to perform the test which is sent to an outside lab. Results are usually available the following day.

Infection Treatment

Leptospirosis Treatment
Leptospirosis: Also known as 'Lepto', this bacteria is found in or near water contaminated by infected urine - usually from wild animals. Although prevalent in our area many infections go unnoticed and severe infections are often fatal. After receiving the initial booster, this is a yearly vaccine.
Parvovirus Infection Treatment
DAPP: This combination vaccine provides immunity to four serious diseases: Distemper is a highly contagious virus that can cause respiratory, gastrointestinal and neurological illness. Adenovirus (Hepatitis) is an often fatal virus. Parvovirus is highly contagious, causes extreme vomiting and diarrhea and is often fatal. Parainfluenza causes coughing and sneezing. A one year or three year option is available although the three year vaccine does not contain parainfluenza.

Heart Disease Treatment
Ultrasound: Ultrasound is another non-invasive and painless diagnostic tool which provides a more detailed examination of internal organs and developing fetuses. Both Dr. Lancaster and Dr. Kelly are qualified to use ultrasound. If an echocardiogram (heart ultrasound) is needed we bring an ultrasound specialist to our clinic.

Outside Laboratory Services: If more extensive testing, biopsies and cultures are required we send out samples to a specialist laboratory service.
X-Ray
Digital x-rays allow us to capture the image of bones and internal organs instantly. These images are available on computer for immediate diagnostics.

General Pet Care

Boarding
Bordetella: Also known as 'kennel cough', this bacteria is very contagious and causes coughing and sneezing. The vaccine is recommended for any dogs that come into contact with other dogs through boarding, grooming, daycare, dog parks and other socializing activities. It is a yearly vaccine but some grooming and boarding facilities will requires a booster every six months.
