Provided by DexKnowsI bought a set of Loewen windows & doors for a new house about 6 years ago (from Windows, Doors & More (WDM), the local Loewen outlet). Loved them. They still look great and operate well for the most part, but one push-out casement developed a problem -- became stuck closed. WDM service was very helpful on the phone -- took details & said a service tech would contact me in 2 days. It took at least twice that, and the tech (Nick Schmager) told me the hardware was still under warranty but there would be a $150 charge to come out. That wasn't a deal-breaker, but when I asked (3 separate times by email) whether there might be additional charges, I got no response to that question, even though Nick contacted me regarding other issues and clearly was getting my messages.I finally contacted Loewen. Their customer support person (Gordon Zarzycki) was very helpful, explaining how to open the window, which was obvious after he explained it, and then sending me the parts to fix it by UPS air, no charge.Quite a contrast in support. I don't know why Nick failed to respond but have my suspicions. Anyway, I'd think twice before using Windows, Doors & More again.

Provided by DexKnowsWe have had nothing but bad experiences with these folks. To start with, they were too afraid to deal with stucco sided homes and wanted us to find someone to create the opening or do it ourselves, then they would still charge the full price for installation. We went ahead and installed ourselves. 3 years later, our open/close mechanism disintegrated inside the closed window. We contacted them for the warranty repair. It turns out that the warranty only covers parts and they want $150 for the first hour and $87/hr each consecutive hour. They know full well that this is going to exceed the cost of the window. When I agree to attempt the repair myself, they fumble through sending several manuals to me. I still haven't received the correct manual. This being an unsatisfactory experience is an extreme understatement. Be forewarned!

Provided by DexKnowsI renovated a 1906 Craftsman home, and Windows Doors & More used to be in my neighborhood. Of the 6 windows I bought from them, 1 was built correctly. Two had incorrect depths, so required extra finish carpentry to install. When I point this out, the manager offered to sell me the trim to fix their mistake. The other three windows had the glass installed wrong- from divided light windows with half the panels in tempered glass (i.e., showing the tempered glass "etch") and half not tempered (none of them should have been tempered) to installing the glass with the low-E coating on the outside, which hazed over in 8 months. Cannot trust their sales people or manager.

Provided by DexKnowsMy project manager was very good. The instalaltion crew were good carpenters that were very careful. We have an older house and they took great care to make sure they not only protected our home, but also that our windows were secure in the old holes. They went the extra mile for us.
