Overall
bad customer service

I would never take my car to Gary’s. I went to Gary’s because I read good reviews regarding his good, honest and friendly service--well, whoever wrote that probably did not question Gary and had their car done by him, and yes, he is nice as long as you give him the job. But if not…that’s another story. A customer is entitled to respectful and professional customer service, whether he does business at an establishment, or not. Gary and his mechanic seemed very friendly at first, but after they realized I wasn’t going to give them my business right then, they changed dramatically. His mechanic was downright rude to me. However, the worst part of the rude treatment towards me was the fact that it all happened right in front of Gary, the owner, and after the mechanic left and I remarked to Gary that your mechanic seemed to be rude and out of line, instead of offering me an apology for his mechanic’s lack of manners, Gary just made a weak excuse for his behavior, saying he comes from the “old European school.” Here is my whole story:I brought my car in for a computerized estimate, and three hours later was quoted $430. I was ready to pay it only to find out that the inspection fee of $100 would not apply toward the final bill. So, it was more like $530, which was above my budget. So, I asked Gary if I can have a print out of the inspection. Well, everything changed in his, and his mechanic’s, demeanor and manner after that. Gary became evasive and made several excuses why he could not give me a printout. First he said we have never given a printout to anyone, and then he said it would take an hour to do, and then he needed to go to lunch, implying I would have to wait a few hours for the printout. I agreed to wait. Gary’s mechanic really did not like the fact that I asked for a printout apparently, and he made no effort to hide his feelings, saying “whatever” in a snide way. He then brought my car around, speeding, and stopped suddenly. He proceeded to do the printout, which by the way took all of FIVE minutes! But even worse, after he was done, the mechanic proceeded to stick the printout in my face, asking me if I could read it, could understand it’s meaning. At first I thought he was talking about the fonts. Then I realized he was saying since I could not read the technical graph, that it was useless to ask for the printout. I told him that I paid $100 for that inspection and was entitled to printed results. Finally, I got the printout and I explained to them that I might need to take my car elsewhere, and I didn’t want to pay again for the same inspection. The mechanic made a sarcastic and condescending remark and proceeded to go back to the garage, after slamming the office door. However, there is good news -- I went to another mechanic shop where I found a friend I have been trying to track for a year and a half.
