My A.C. stopped blowing cold air monday afternoon. I call Elmers and ask if they can send someone out. They say it was after hours and there would be an after hours fee of 159 ish. I say fine..send them out. They said as soon as they can but wouldnt be past 9:30. At 8, I called and told them forget it and schedule for the next day between 2 and 5. Next day rolls around I call to confirm at 3pm...the receptionist asks who scheduled the appt because there wasnt an appt listed, but they will send someone out by 3:30. 3:45 rolls around and JR shows up. He diagnoses the problem and tells me what it will cost. I say whatever, just fix it. Well, he isnt an installer so he cant do it. And since its so late in the day, they cant do it today but will be out first thing wed morning. 11 a.m...and still no installer. Customer service says the one guy was called on an emergency..as if 2 days with the house well over 90 isnt an emergency, so another guy will come out next. I will get the system fixed..but I will not use them again. Not happy at all considering what it is costing me and the deposit I had to put down.

My technician was Ralph. This guy was as top notch and knowledgeable as they come. He was a true breath of fresh (and cold) air in an industry that seems to take advantage of folks in a time of dire need.
I had been with out AC in the heat of San Antonio summer for over two weeks, and with two young kiddos at home. My home warranty company had been getting me the run around and proved that First American Home Warranty's coverage is not worth the paper they write them on.
I had previously dealt with North Star Mechanical, Air Force AC and Cooling, and Texas Air Repair and not one of them holds a candle to Ralph and the crew at Elmer's.
They addressed my AC needs in a polite and super courteous manner. Once I called Ralph was prompt and patient with all my questions and concerns. I never once felt like I was being talked down to, or given the run around.
If anybody out there is in need of an honest HVAC technician, please do not hesitate and call Elmer's and ask for Ralph. You will be glad you did!
God bless and have a cool Texas.

Was told by the Elmer's 1 Hour technician as well as their "AC expert" that my compressor was shot and that I essentially needed a new unit. I had another company come out for a second opinion and the units compressor was fine. Thank goodness for that second opinion which saved me over $10,000!!!

Had some issues, not very happy with them, and they are REALLY bad at being on time.

They fixed my earlier issues, but when I called to make an appt, I got the run around all day. Finally they confirmed that Jason (the best technician by far) would be coming to take a look. Turns out that nothing was wrong this time, but it was nice to finally get someone over here.

I appreciate that my money isn't being totally wasted, I need to put Jason on my speed dial though because so far he is the only one that has been helpful in the whole company.

I was very untrusting due to my experience with Cowboys a/c and just not sure what expect. I called for evaluation. Unfortunately the was a lot wrong and made me angry at Cowboys. How is it they didn't find the rusted coils and the outside motor was getting ready to blow. When Cowboys came out they said they found mold and recommended the UV light for $1860 and changed the compasitor and starter kit for an aditional $800 if I had called Elmers the light would have been $600 and the compasitor and starter kit around $500. WOW and to top it off the light Cowboys installed went out a month later hey came out replaced it. A defeat months later up in the attic water over flowed int he emergency drain pan. If Cowboys would have bothered to are the core off to look at the coils they would have seen they were rusted and this oils have been prevented. When Elmer's came out I was informed the UV light was installed in the incorrect area. It wasn't going through the entire system due to the placement. There was also wiring done incorrectly and the tape around the UV light wasn't the proper tape. NEVER USE COWBOY'S A/C ELMER's pricing is fair. The techs are professional, polite answerd any questions I had. I wasn't prepared to have to do a new system, but it was clear it was needed. I will be reporting Cowboy's for the horrible service and work I 100% RECCOMEND ELMER'S

They take out $20 a month without fail for the past 21 months and excuse for not receiving the maintenance inspections is that they left 3 messages during those months. No workout solution or immediate action taken to resolve conflict. $420 taken, 3 messages and no service to show for it. I might add horrible phone etiquette.

AC went out 2 weeks ago - air ...

AC went out 2 weeks ago - air blowing but fan outside not working - looked problem up online - appeared it was going to be blown capacitor - figured it shouldn't be too expensive to have a pro do it - enter Jason from On Time Elmer - he verified this was the issue and needed to be replace it - pulled off ONE part but said he needed to add a 2 part capacitor -??- then gave quote of $390 - but as he was testing further, the fan would not kick on all the time - then said I needed a "hard start" so it would start up all the time - quoted $580 - WOW - after deciding it was too pricey, we said we would not repair now.... well, Jason, who by the way makes 180k per year and has 20 years exp - you'll see why later, if that is true, in a bit - i guess in 20 years he's learned to pile the s*** on.. - He left and was on his way - he seemed ok, not ill mannered or upset - Enter the 2nd opinion - Fan was spinning super fast right off the bat - AC tech quickly asked his helper to shut if off Immediately - Fan was going to fry if it stayed on - he figured the previous tech (with 20years exp) wired the capacitor wrong - 2nd tech tells me he will get EXACT part, not a 2 part capacitor - well it would be pretty easy to do right then and there if the parts label on the capacitor was there, which was funny cuz I had read the label to Jason, reading to him that it was a GE part made in mexico - (the parts he uses are made in America) - it somehow disappeared - ok, not disappeared, you could see the scrape marks left behind because it was taken off..... Also, didn't need a "hard start" since it only helps the Compressor kicked on with less strain- but since this Tech only charged $175 for both parts and labor,, I opted for it - luckily I put a stop the service payment (I was not going to pay a person who messed with my property and lied his a$$ off to try and rip me off)and also let Lorenzo, the manager, know what kind of person he has employed and what he did - maybe the other techs are honest and not thieves/vandals but if you decide to go with these guys and Jason is your tech - kick his a$$ off your lawn - one less service call won't hurt his 180k income, or maybe it will, since he wont be bullsh****** you and ripping you off to cushion is pocket.

I used these guys even though ...

I used these guys even though they had a low rating, I asked about the bad review and was told it was a disgruntled former employee. I had a system installed by a big name company and spent well over 7 grand, 6 months later it went out and I couldnt get the company to stand behind thier product. I explained all of this to Elmer the owner and he sent his guys out to look at it for free. They fixed it and were able to warranty the unit because he used the same brand. He charged me a fair price to fix someone elses mistake. Thank you Expert Techs, On Time Elmer. I would recomend to everyone. Stay away from the DUKE, Thats all I can say because of pending legal against the other company. Try these guys.

Not "Experts" - Not "Techs" - Not worth the frustrations

Expert Techs are not experts and they are not techs. I purchased two new systems two and a half years ago. Everything they installed fell apart: ductwork, plenums, fan motor, defrost board, fan blade, thermostat, and they have not made this junk work. All under warranty, but I have begun fixing things myself because Elmer's company is INCAPABLE. They make things worse.

I am writing this review to tell anybody...STAY AWAY!!

I see that Elmer responds to these hoping to save his doomed reputation. He won't return my calls, texts, faxes, or letters so perhaps he will respond to this, "professionally". Nothing else has ever been handled professionally, despite his comments on this forum.

I agree with others: phone harassment for tune ups (" they are in your area"), incapable "techs", poor service, late for all emergency calls, non responsive owner, no "tech" ever lasts at the company. Trust me I have seen over twenty different techs and none of them are capable of fixing the monstrosity of an HVAC system that they installed in my home.

STAY AWAY!!! This is a one star rating only because I can't unclick that star. It should be in the negative.

Elmer... you can't gloss this one over. Call me... you know who I am. Or better yet... buy this crap back from me and let's cut our ties. You already postponed my service call this morning and told me to wait til this afternoon. I guess I can freeze a bit longer... it's been two and half years.
