Overall

The staff is friendly and professional. They really looked out for my wife and tended to her wound dressings and treated her like a member of the family. The lady in charge of the place, I believe her name was Jasmine went above and beyond when my wife had problems with her wound vacuum. Now my wife is back on her feet again enjoying life. Thank you Avalon for being so kind to us and being there in our time of need.

Overall

I was a short-term post-surgical patient in 2009. The orthopedic rehab (my knee) was almost non existent; I had to beg for the correct therapy, or do it on my own in the middle of the night. They put a mentally-disturbed, foreign post-op in with me, who threatened me, and acted out inappropriately, with no family intervention. They finally changed me to a different room, but only after I was pushed at 2am.

A few good staff, but mostly inconsistent. Not allowed to bathe when I needed to. A week after discharge (my insurance cut them off), I was admitted to UCU with MRSA in my arm. Their official response was it was my fault for using guard rails in hallways (no walker provided). I saw other patients treated in ways I wondered about, but I was injured, so didn't think to mention; wish I had. I have PTSD, and will not allow myself to be in another care facility.

Overall

I am currently in this facility and have been for about three weeks. I am recovering from surgery resulting from an accident. My stay here has been frustrating. I have tried not to be a burden on the staff because I know they are busy and there are many residents with much greater needs than I have. I do sometimes have pressing needs, however, and it is very difficult to get the needed help. Most of the staff seem to be capable enough (although there are more exceptions than I would like) but they seem to be understaffed ALL of the time. I recognize the need to avoid over-staffing to make a profit but caring for the patients needs to be the first priority. It isn't here. I'm afraid the bean-counters have squeezed down staffing so much it has seriously affected the quality of care.
