Termites
One sign of termites can be what looks like a white color or clear colored, these are foragers and do the most damage. They feed off of the cellulose containing materials in, around, and under structures. If they are there for enough length of time then they can eventually jeopardize the integrity of what could be your home or business. Termites will burrow their way to wooden structures and into which they burrow to obtain their food. They do so by using what are called tunnels or “dirt tunnels” that can be visible, depending on the location. Termites need a constant watch to protect your home or business from literally being eaten around you. Termite cause more the 5 billion dollars a year in damage to structure across the country. The average colony can consume 12’’ inches of a 2×4 per year, so if left unattended they can cause some serious damage.

A labama is native to some 251 insects that might and will invade your home searching for water and food. Pest control can provide a barrier to help keep some of these 6-8 legged and winged friends form trying to live with you. There are a variety of chemicals out there we can use to treat for insects. Some of the most common pests/insects that we see in Jefferson county and the surrounding areas/counties are German Cockroaches, American Cockroaches (water bugs), Wasps, Carpenter bees, yellow jackets, carpenter ants, sugar ants, fire ants, and spiders, Fleas, & ticks. There are the occasional beetles that can be a nuisance. In some parts of the state of Alabama there even scorpions. Depending on the pest that has decided to try and move in on you the treatment time frame as well and chemical will vary, in most cases, a preventative monthly or quarterly pest service can prevent them from moving in. A family’s health can be affected by these little creatures depending on the infestation or insect. The Brown Recluse and Black Widow spiders can be very toxic and even killing a human if not treated properly. Cockroaches can trigger asthma attacks and spread salmonella, so knowing where and what these insects are drawn to is very important. As a pest control company we can control these insects, unfortunately there is nothing out there yet that will completely kill every one of them. Bees
Honey Bees are endangered, therefore, killing them is not an option. There are specialist that can remove them from the site they have made their home. They have been known to make nests under siding and in walls, so not only can they sting but they can cause structural damage as well. When honey bees sting, the stinger remains in the skin which continues to release the venom causing more pain. Although honey bees are smaller than wasps and bees the swarm in groups causing more pain at once all of the body which is what makes them lethal.

Rats
Rat infestations need to be gotten under control as quick as possible before you are at a health risk. Rats and mice can be very evasive little creatures due to how fast they are. Treating for rats and mice can be tricky depending on the situation at hand and the location in which they are infesting. If you live near a field or woods that can be a contributor to them trying to invade, also, they love insulation because it provided warmth and above (your home) a food and water source.
