We recommend having your pet's teeth cleaned once a year. Some smaller breeds could benefit from a dental cleaning every six months since they are more prone to dental disease and tartar build-up. Our veterinary team will let you know what category your dog or cat falls into for future cleanings.
Vaccination
If you plan on traveling throughout the United States with your pet, he or she may require a domestic health certificate. Also known as a certificate of veterinary inspection (CVI), a domestic health certificate is proof that your pet's veterinarian has confirmed that that he or she is up-to-date on vaccinations and is disease free. Your veterinarian will provide this document to you after performing a thorough exam and any necessary tests.
Nutritional Counseling
Proper pet nutrition and weight management can enable your cat or dog to enjoy a long, healthy, and comfortable life. Sprayberry Animal Hospital advocates for proper nutrition and portion control to help manage your pet’s weight and reduce pain from many common or existing illnesses your pet may have.
Comprehensive Examination
Today’s modern anesthetic monitors have made surgery very safe. Here at Sprayberry Animal Hospital, we do a thorough physical exam on your pet before administering anesthetics in order to ensure that a fever or other illness won’t be a problem. We also adjust the amount and type of anesthetic used depending on the health of your pet.
All cats that will be staying in the hospital for boarding must be up to date on FVRCP, FELV, Bordetella (Kennel Cough) and Rabies Vaccinations. An intestinal parasite test is also required.
Pain Management
Anything that causes pain in people can be expected to cause pain in animals. Pets may not show the same symptoms of pain as people do; they usually don’t whine or cry, but you can be sure they feel it. Pain medications will be prescribed depending on the type of surgery performed. Major procedures require more pain relief than things like minor lacerations.
Vaccinations play a crucial role in your pet's health. It is extremely important to vaccinate puppies and kittens as their immature immune systems will make them more susceptible to many serious diseases like parvovirus (dogs) and herpes virus (cats). In order to make a customized vaccination plan for your pet, we will ask some questions regarding your pet, their environment, and any places you intend to take them. Once we get this information, we can work with you to make sure your pet is protected.
If your pet is experiencing problems with his or her circulatory system or heart, Sprayberry Animal Hospital can provide patients with an echocardiogram, also known as an ECG.
Here at Sprayberry Animal Hospital, our doctors have extensive experience in all types of general soft-tissue and orthopedic surgery and stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and procedures.
When you bring your pet in for surgery, we will need 5 to 10 minutes of your time to fill out a pre-operative release form and make decisions on blood work, as well as additional services. You can do so prior to bringing in your pet if you wish to save time. When you pick up your pet after surgery you can also plan to spend about 10 minutes to go over your pet’s home care needs.
