Services/Products
VolumeOne is an international practice specialized in architectural and urban design as well as consulting services in construction and sustainable strategies. Lars Gräbner, together with partner Gerrit Grigoleit created the practice in Zurich/Switzerland, Berlin/Germany and Detroit/United States in 2000, which was named VolumeOne in 2006. The name VolumeOne refers to the collaborative nature of the practice as one inclusive entity as well as the beginning of many endeavors to come, as an open-ended practice seeking new and challenging opportunities in the field and beyond. At VolumeOne, we perceive urban, economic and technical parameters as catalyst for new ideas and unconventional concepts while the specific local conditions and the client’s requirements resemble the initial point of departure for each project. A central concern in our practice is to fulfill our social responsibilities in the built environment by studying human behaviors, investigating cultural patterns and addressing social as well as environmentally sustainable practices. VolumeOne maintains an interest in collaborations across cultures and locations. This is reflected in the firm’s current and past variety of project locations in the United States, Germany, China and Spain. Our collective professional experience encompasses a wide array of building types and projects, including exhibition design, hospitality, institutional, residential, and cultural institutions and medium to large urban design projects. Our firm is experienced to execute a project from programming to design and through construction, including construction documentation. For international projects VolumeOne maintains successful relationships with associate architectural and engineering firms and specialty consultants and is involved in every phase of a project. With growing opportunities and projects in China, it is envisioned that VolumeOne will expand to a stable multinational team of designers, architects and associates. VolumeOne’s organizational structure as open-ended practice allows to be a flexible partner in challenging projects. Our objective is to strive for quick and efficient processes, which is capable of partnering with local associates for the highest quality and best services possible.
