Park Road Books

I love this bookstore and have since I first moved down the street from it. As a student and an avid reader, this is the ideal version of what a local bookstore should be. They have lots of books by local authors, lots of book signings and many autographed books. They have bestseller walls, seasonal walls, and other varying categories that seem to change every time I visit (on one wall, not the entire store). Their selection is really wide for a store so seemingly small and they tend to get new books in quickly and are always willing to order a book. I once ordered a book that came slightly bent and they ordered a new one for no cost. It's great for students because they keep up with summer reading and classics that are required for classes. They also have nice seating areas, a section on books about Charlotte, cards, journals, and calendars. My FAVORITE part is how personalized the store is. They have little cards that hang underneath books with descriptions and why you should read them, and each employee has their own favorites section. The employees are nice and willing to help. It's such a great store and they make it so easy to support it!

NEVER USE THIS PLACE. DO NOT RECOMMEND. THEY DO NOT FOLLOW UP, ASSOCIATES ARE RUDE, AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWFUL. HARD TO BELIEVE HOW THEY STAY IN BUSINESS. I HAVE BEEN WAITING ON BOOKS FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD ARRIVE IN TWO DAYS. DUE TO THEIR INCOMPETENCE I AM NOW HAVING TO DROP THIS CLASS. THEY DO NOT DELIVER ON THEIR WORD.

I am very upset and disappointed with the service that I have received. I was told by Frank the order would be placed on 8/27 and the order would arrive on 8/29. Now, almost two weeks later, my order still has not arrived. And the order was placed on 8/28 instead of 8/27. I have had to call every day to check on status, no one until today, after calling every day since last Friday has reached out to me. The customer service is not what I expected. These books were needed last Friday for a class that meets on Mondays. I will be two weeks behind since they will not come in until this Monday. This is unacceptable. If I had known that, I would have used another company to receive my books on time. Now, I do not have time to obtain the books from any other source before Monday. This has been a major inconvenience for me and I will know not to use your business in the future. I even asked to speak to the owner and was told she was in a meeting.

I placed my novel with them and they did not promote or even put the book on the shelf for nearly two months. I was told I would be scheduled for a book signing within a month. It is more than six months now and nothing! If you are an author, stay away from this bookstore. They could care less about local authors.

Park Road Books is the type of bookstore that it is getting harder and harder to find. Friendly, cozy, great selection. I love browsing in there, and usually come out of there with books I never knew existed that are wonderful! The only thing that would make it better is if you could just sit and read your book in overstuffed chairs, for an hour or two, with a cup of coffee or cocoa. That would be heaven!
